Electric cars, electric trucks, electric field tractors and electric airplanes won't work for extended periods of time becuase the energy storage is not dense enough.

Diesel fuel tank -- hydrogen fuel tank

Each fill their respective prime movers as required. Each bulk tank is refuelled as required.

Both the diesel and the hydrogen would have comparable fuel delivery systems, just use different fuel.

If the car can make 200 miles/charge it will work for me. Our round trip to the town is about 100-120 miles three times a week. So green or not green it makes financial sense for us.

We've already looked at all the alternatives and gas has won, diesel is better but most are to stupid to see it, it's done, gas won. Electric or better described as battery operated cars are least desirable and make no sense. There's no down side to gas, there's thousands of years of know oil supplies in USA alone, and CO2 emissions threat is a hoax. So use what you want.. Good luck. I won't move to outlaw your battery, you leave my gas/diesel alone. Don't expect to park your LI battery car in my garage, and burn my place down, though, out side away from anything important. HS

Now the weight , cost and complexity of multiple fuel systems. Even that super duper fuel cell 212 submarine counts on lead acid batteries to move faster than trolling speed.

Compare a new Chevy Sonic with ICE with the Sonic they call a Bolt that is battery powered. What is the difference in up front purchase price plus a level 2 charger. How much is saved over 5 to 8 years. Don't want to keep the electric past the end of factory warrenty. What is the trade value of the Sonic and the Bolt at the end of 5 or 8 years ?

Electric is out for me. Looked good but the pay back period would be after I am long in the grund (81 now). I could get by with an electric for all my driving (rent a car for long trips) but I only do abut 5-6,000 miles a year. The pay back just isn't there. Sure would be nice passign all those gas stations with high prices though.
