What Tractor Would You Buy In The 40-60hp Range?

That 4105 is in my radar for sure, I'm not looking for anything fancy, I love my little Massey but I don't care for the dealer.. I do everything on it myself or with the help of my brother.. I will have to compare the 4105 and similar Kubota, lucky for me the Deere and Kubota dealer is one in the same..

The 4105 is what I run and I bought it new. I have the 300CX loader on it and the tractor (with ballast) handles round bales without complaint. I've also raked & tedded without a problem. I myself haven't noticed excessive HST whine with mine... but every tractor has its idiosyncrasies (people too, for that matter :)). I'm into my 3rd haying season with it now.

Personally, it's a great bare-bones 41ph tractor that surprises me with what it can do. The Yanmar donk is simple to maintain and the fuel/oil filters are simple to cross-reference. I did go with the Deere hydraulic filter & HyGard hydraulic fluid when I changed that at the 400hr mark. You won't get a custom anti-vibration deck mat, or cruise control or even a cab though. It does have power steering (hydraulic) though, and the FEL joystick is in the perfect operating position for me.

I could carry on singing the praises of my rig but the other thing that should be brought up is the Dealership that you buy from. I'm talking any 'colour' Dealership. You've already found that you don't care for the MF Dealership you bought your 1705 from... so, talk to your neighbours and your brother's neighbours as to which Dealerships have the best reputation in your area. They're the ones who are going to back you up in parts & service.

Good luck, Mate, and feel free to PM me if you have anymore 4105 questions.

Well I bought exactly what you don't want, a shuttle NH Workmaster 50. I would look at Mahindra, Kubota, Kioti, and Massey in no particular order with the edge to dealership support of what ever you buy. You will probably find new units with financing options may be more favorable than used units. Around here used units are not inexpensive if in good shape. Good luck and let us know what you get.

I have been very satisfied with my Deere 4520 cab 60 hp. with the ehydro transmission. I also liked the Kubota 5740 when shopping at the time. There are many good brands of tractors today, just be sure you look at as many as you can before buying.

I'm a Deere guy myself, as other's have stated, a good dealer is first on my list, ergonomics of the tractor second, looking & talking to neighbors is a great way to get a feel for different brands to.
Should yo go with Kubota, get a pair of sunglasses, that color is hard on my eyes:eek:

Buy new. As said above, buying any brand through a bad dealer will make ownership stressful. Once you have a brand in mind, find someone in your area that bought from that dealer. Ask them how supportive the dealer is post purchase. I've had great dealers and ones that leave you on your own. I can maintenance any mower or tractor, but when it "breaks"...I need support. I don't want to hear: "we're really busy now", or "we'll, if you can get it here, we'll take a look at it". Even bad/lazy attitudes when buying maintenance parts can be annoying.

Thanks for all the info guys.. I think I have narrowed it down to MX and 4105, The Deere dealer near me has the Kubota as well so it's all good there.. The 4105 has a mechanical hydro, which I need to install a hand control with ease, I'm not sure about the Kubota but I will look at them, does the Kubota have the throttle intergrated in the pedal? I like that idea alot, I know NX Kioti does..

As a Mahindra owner I tend to read more about those machines. It appears the TYM built machines have been more prone to issues than others in the Mahindra line- a lot of tractors are made in part or whole by others. However Mahindra is still rated decent in the customer satisfaction study on this site.
!

On thee newer built TYM Mahindra's it seems to me most of the problems are related to the Mahindra engine. Unable to raise rpms and cold running engines. These are Mahindra problems not TYM. There has been few complaints about TYM's own tractors compared to the engine issues with Mahindra.

The MX5800 has the throttle separate from the HST pedal. I don't often find it unable to do what I want until I try to pick up more than it is designed to handle. I have been really pleased with what it can do. I looked at LS, Deere, and NH before I made my purchase. Dealership had a lot to do with it.
