some old saying hold true. "familiarity breeds contempt" There's no doubt, the more you get to know him, the less you'll like him. My suggestion is to do whatever you need to do to let him forget about you and you him. He might get pleasure out of fighting with people, and the apple does not fall far from the tree. Just keep your dogs in (for awhile) or whatever you need to do and go about "your" life...forget him and don't give them another chance to interact with you or anyone in your family. Be boring to them. soon he will focus on someone else. good luck.

Good fences makie good neighbors. Adding a bit of electricity makes even better neighbors. Be sure to post plenty of signs that the fence is "hot".

"My dog only goes on my yard", "My dog knows the property line".... yeah right. It's a frigging animal.

One of the best moves I ever made was to bury an invisible fence surrounding 3 acres around my house. My dogs love to hunt, and will stick their noses to the ground and go. They understand boundaries when I am with them, but once that nose kicks in - forget about it.
I have great peace of mind now, knowing I can let them out unsupervised, and that fence keeps them in. I have seen them take off after something, and sure enough, when they get near the invisible fence, they STOP.
I installed it myself, total cost of around 600. Well worth it.

I have a small place (20 acres) about 70 minutes from my house. Most everyone around me lives there full time. There is a fella that lives a couple of hundred yards down the road that refuses to chain or fence his dog. I have a few pics of the dog on my game camera, and he leaves a few of his snickers bar-sized landmines around my camper from time to time.

Sweet dog that is as good as can be, just has an owner who is a bit dense. He has earned the nickname "D!@%head" with the folks around there. Right now there isn't anything that has happened that really concerns me, of course the day he come trotting by (the dog, not the owner) at first light when I am in the deer stand might be a different story.....

This whole thread reminds me of why one of the first things I did was build a net wire fence around my property. I don't want my dog getting out on the road to get hit by a car AND I don't want other dogs in my property. Good fences work to keep peace in the neighborhood. Some of my neighbors let their dogs roam, but they don't roam on my property, all my German Shepherd can do is bark at them thru the fence.

We did have a group of 3 dogs come thru an open cattle gate at the back of the 40 acres once and kill about a dozen of my chickens. Lets just say that they wont be coming back again. I don't let my dogs roam and I have no tolerance for destructive animals on my place. IF a mannered dog accidently gets in thru the fence, I gently as possible, put him back on the other side of the fence as long as he is being nice to me, my chickens and my dog.

It is worse than that. In my experience, some people use their dogs as surrogate aggressors, which is especially unfair to the dogs who pay the price when it is pushed too far.
