Ford F150-I'm Done.

Goose have you not learned anything yet? Besides the Original Post and maybe your 4 other posts in this entire thread the rest of it is pretty much 34 pages (and counting)of dribble and bickering excuse makers for Ford.
Ram 2500 with 6.4 (like it real well except for how tall it sits in the air and that is really my only complaint with it).

Still trying to justify all that cash they want for any of the new ones though but it looks like if I make a purchase it will be for my first ever Ram and also my first ever 3/4 ton.

It took a little getting use to, (how high the 2500 3500 Rams ride/sit) for me when I got my 3500 Ram
But there are advantages I think after owning it for a while , especially night driving -not as (night blinded) by on coming traffic, and it does give a bit better view from a higher sitting location.
The one negative with the Ram cab I don't care for is how wide the A pillars are.
But overall It has been and continues to be a good truck.

Another family member bought a 2015 or 2016? 2500 Ram with the v8 and it has been trouble free and the mileage has been improving as more miles roll up. Very happy with the truck.

Good points on those advantages. However, I actually use my bed to haul stuff in too in lieu of hooking up to one of my trailers. A real hassle to wrestle something heavy up into a tall bed. While I am nearly 6'5" and can adjust somewhat easier to the tall bed, almost anyone else helping me lift any heavy items is more vertically challenged than I. Hauled a washer and dryer for my nephew the other weekend in a tight urban area where there was only on street parking (no way I could have got a trailer into his new apartment) Actually took my old beater 1992 C1500 2WD instead of my much better 2003 Sierra K1500 4wd simply for the lower bed height on the truck bed. That low truck bed height makes it a lot easier to load and unload anything heavy with manpower.

Update on my F150... no news. Shop closed until tomorrow. I did a drive by yesterday and they must have moved it inside on Friday so should hear something tomorrow.

I hear you on the bed height also, - i never really thought much about it,
but most of the time leave the 5th wheel hitch mounted in the bed and just use my small trailer or old 1982 Chev 2500 2 wheel drive also for small hauling jobs.
If the Ram didn't have nerf bars it would be a pain getting into the cab.
Guess there are some compromises to be made, No matter what brand.

I use my 4x6 box trailer the most... it will hold a yard of rock... is a joy to move applicances and can move 4x8 sheet goods with the gate down.

The high bed height is most definitely an obstacle to me for most things... but I do like it for sacks of concrete... no stoopping from bed to mixer...

Hoping from the best on your F150 dragoneggs... I know how the unknown can weigh on a a person.

Seems every new vehicle is somewhat a roll of the dice but with a warranty... more than ever people I know are either leasing or only driving vehicles under warranty.

When did vehicles become so complicated?

Yeah! Thirty years ago I would tackle this job but myself with a buddy... but now there are so many wires, sensors, etc. I'm pretty sure I would just make a mess of it.

I know this is going to sound crazy but I have cured tons of rough running issues by 1 of 3 things.

1. Cleaning battery terminals, especially the ground.

2. Replacing the battery. Voltage spikes make sensors go nuts. I now replace all batteries at 36 months no matter what.

3. Replacing the alternator. Worn brushes give voltage spikes to sensors.

I'm thinking this would be more of an issue with newer vehicles...

Replacing batteries would be quite expensive in a fleet... the only time I have proactively replaced a battery was on Mom's car... it was the OEM from Toyota and 12 years old... sounded a little weak and with summer coming to an end I opted to change.

Okay an update... shop says lots of sludge in oil... shop is flushing the engine oil, putting in some kind of detergent, running it hot for about 45min and then flushing and changing oil/filter. Say that possibly the sensors are clogged with sludge. Will know more in an hour or two.
