Ram 1500 EcoDiesel

In my experience, computers average 1.5MPG higher than hand computed and my truck is no exception. On a rare occasion the two match. My quoted mileage is computer generated minus ~1.5MPG. Of course highway mileage on this type of vehicle is usually higher than in town. Mine is a mix of ~65% highway, ~30% in town and maybe 5% in town stop and go.

As most of us know, driving styles also make a large difference in mileage. I am a very good fuel mileage driver while my wife is just the opposite.
I have owned better than 25 vehicles of which 75% have had a MPG Computer.

The majority were .3mpg or better tolerance with my one and only Dodge being off by 2.5 MPG.

This is a fleet of Ford, GM, BMW, Toyota, Nissan, Infiniti, Lexus, ect.

Anybody factor in the different fuel qualities? Summer to Winter. Different refineries. It's not all the same.

People may not realize that there's US MPG and Imperial MPG when comparing or adding data to those websites, for example, 15 US mpg is about 18 Imperial mpg. Vehicles sold outside the US are in Imperial, so anybody looking at their trip computer in their dash here in Canada have to convert to US MPG to compare directly to what somebody in the US is referring to as MPG.

Exactly what I am talking about. Check some of the threads about what people are "averaging" here, especially with the older F150's averaging 15. Something there.

More to the point of this thread, there are three Ram 1500 diesel owners reporting and they are averaging 23mpg.

No dog in the fight, we log all fuel use on all our fleet vehicles and even calculate how optimistic their trip computers are.

How'd you get 23mpg? I saw 3x 25 and our 28 unless I missed someone's post.

Well I bought it. 2016 4x4 Laramie with the 3.55 gears and an 8 speed transmission. Got 24.6 mpg on the trip home according to the computer.

Today is Day One. I will keep you updated if the truck gives any problems. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I've had my ecodiesel for about a year now.
Outdoorsman 4x4 3.92 gears.

My average on a per tank (including mostly city done highway) basis is usually about 23 mpg. On the highway at 70+ I'll get around 25 mpg.

Recently, I've been towing a lot get around 15 towing my enclosed 16' trailer loaded to around 5k pounds.

Here Red Ram, Red Ram (Ram 15) | Fuelly is my fuelly. Tracked every fill up since purchase. You can see when I started towing a bunch.

Have fun with your truck. Look into getting a tune from GDE.
