Tipping / dump trailer. Will this hydraulic ram work?

davej1 touched on a point I forgot to mention.If a ram is to flat it will not lift the load.
By haveing the ram spear end forward of the deck/load centre, you are reducing the initial force to start the lift cycle.

It痴 been a long time coming but I finally finished my 3.5 ton tipping trailer and also built a petrol powered power pack for it. The majority of it was built with things I 壮crounged for nothing, but regardless of this it works extremely well. I've already used it to transport my 2.5 ton digger around the farm and to move 6 loads of clay from a landslip on the driveway.
Over the years other forum members have been very generous offering information and advice on how to solve problems, so I thought it was about time I gave something back myself. I have put together a Microsoft Word document and an Excel spreadsheet with info I collected and calculations about tipping trailers and hydraulics. I think I have uploaded the document hereView attachment Calculate the hydraulic system requirements for a tipping trailer.pdf. Trouble is I can't figure out how to upload the spreadsheet - it fails when I try.
Any suggestions?
