Dogs and neighbors.

Restrain my dog that is staying on MY property? She does not go out without being watched. So instead of letting an active dog hunt on property that I own I should keep her penned up within 100 ft of the house because the neighbor kid will not leave her alone and stop calling her. More like restrain the neighbor kid. The dog was behaving and doing nothing wrong, as a matter of fact doing her job keeping pests such as field mice and moles down. I don't see how I, or my dog is at fault for the neighbor calling her over.

A subtle escalation point indeed. Since PJ has already talked with his neighbor, perhaps treating his neighbors kids like the kids are treating his dog, will suffice. Call them over and load them up with Mountain Dew, Sugar cookies and perhaps send some gnarly dish back home with them for their parents.

I suggest a real fence or invisible fence. Would the dog chase a rabbit or squirrel into your neighbors yard? Our invisible fence works great for our GSD and 70lb. mutt. It wasn't cheap and was a pita to put in but for us it's worth it. We originally put the fence in for one dog, when we got another dog we just bought another collar. There were no worries about the new dog running off to the neighbors or chasing their chickens. Any animals that come into the invisible fenced area are fair game.

And it's just that simple good god is this rocket science. Find a way to contain your dog inside your property line. From day 1 the only thing the neighbor did wrong was approach the wife like a little *****. The OP is wrong for having dog run loose without a fence. Kids will be kids but I can tell you one thing for sure. The OP might not want to take take the advice of calling the kids over and using them to play little bitck a#@ games through children. Your taking things to another level at that point when he's in the wrong with a free roaming dog. All this drama....... Good idea on the electric fence.

What are you waiting for, a bike, car or truck to run your dog over? Perhaps they swerve to miss your dog and there is an accident, possibly ending in injury or death of people. A lot of people have suggested you keep your dog on your property. It really doesn’t matter why the dog leaves your property; YOU have to be responsible for it. Can’t believe you are still in denial that it’s not your fault/responsibility. Over 300 posts and you still seem to be looking for a different answer?????

Don't do this. If things go south with the neighbor calling their kids onto your property could lead to all kinds of accusations. Dogs are one thing, kids another.

What are you waiting for, a bike, car or truck to run your dog over? Perhaps they swerve to miss your dog and there is an accident, possibly ending in injury or death of people. A lot of people have suggested you keep your dog on your property. It really doesn’t matter why the dog leaves your property; YOU have to be responsible for it. Most likely a pit bull from his attitude!
