Is it all metal? Seems that would be rough on the chain.

Here's a similar design in wood. It mounts to the loader upright via four 1/4x20 threaded holes. Look close and you can see some containers for bar oil and fuel that just happened fit in the loader mounting hole behind the chainsaw bar. Good luck beats good planning....

Yes....its metal. Kindof a design flaw, but if you slide it in easily it doesn't effect the teeth.

Nice addition Pappa! If you find the metal is giving your chain problems, as others have suggested a plastic scabbard works well if you have the room to slide it in what you built. Nice work:thumbsup: Here are 2 examples of my use of them.

I'd be more worried about driving into something.

The weights stick out 6 inches further than the chainsaw.

What about an off centered hit?

Anytime I carry a saw I consider it at risk in the timber and have to remember it's there when driving thru brushy areas.
