Ftg05. Will 4 gal of antifreeze then 55 gal of water keep it from freezing in each tire? I know we live not far apart but even this weekend its gonna be in the 20's here. Sometimes it gets in the teens. Just wanna be sure i understand your post.

If you use the -50 degree F RV antifreeze, it should be enough - IMO. It was 20 here this morning, they're expecting 20 or less tomorrow, I'm not worried. it takes several days at below 20 for the 55 gallons to get to anywhere close to freezing.

However, if you have any doubts - use a couple more gallons per tire. At $3/gallon, no big deal over the life of the tire and/or tractor.

thanks FTG-05. I'm gonna give this lots of consideration. Seems like you have a good thing to use and save lots of cash.

Out here the chance of a hard freeze is minimal. The coldest I have ever seen was 12*, but the usual winter night temps are in the 20's with daytime above freezing. I used straight water with some RV antifreeze. Thinking that the combination could eventually cause some rust I added 2 cans of automotive water pump lube in each tire.

My kubota 5140 has methanol in the tires the dealer put in when I bought it. Recently I got a massey 165 with tubes and no fluid in the rear tires.
Methanol here is 14.95 gallon. i was told I needed 11 gal and another dealer told me 15 and fill with water up to the valve stem. Ive also heard some put antifreeze
in the tires and thats from 8-15 dollars a gallon. also i have seen people put winshield washer fluid in the tires for $1.00 /gallon ON YOU TUBE.
I just need to know whats the best to use that will work and not be so expensive. I do know that calcium chloride is not used much anymore due to the rust it could cause in tubeless tires.any help would be appreciated.
Also, I found some pink RV antifreeze today at walmart for 4.95/gal. would this be a good choice?

I had Calcium Chloride (Salt) + water in a tractor I bought and have used auto antifreeze which is what a dealer installed with water when he replaced the CaCl filled tires. CaCl was apparently popular years ago since it dissolved in water and added weight over pure water. Since it rusted out the wheels it ceased to be so popular.

I'm currently waiting on a pair of new tires to arrive and this time I am going with windshield washer fluid, maybe as high a concentration as 50-50 since I live in Texas and it's rated below 0 as I recall and +10 is the coldest it has been here in 37 years. Besides the tires can tolerate some slush if it comes to that. It was $1.50 a gallon on sale at WW.

Hey guys this is what I did. I put RV antifreeze -50 in my tires. I drove to Knoxville and got 30 gal at 2.49 gal and put 15 in each tire size (14.9x28). It was the pink Splash brand that was recommended here on another thread. I'm very pleased as this was around $80.00. I can tell a difference now when driving the tractor. Can't wait till I can plow with it

Only 15 gallon in each 14.9x28 tire? Or only 15 gallon of Antifreeze and you topped off with water?

I put the 15 gal of the RV Splash in each tire then pumped in water to the valve stem that was straight. Water level would have been app at the 10 and 2 o'clock position. Sorry I didn't explain this better earlier. This was app 55 gal total in each tire. We had really cold temps last week to app 10 degrees and they are doing great.

I used wind shield washer fluid. I have 9.5x24" tires so there not that big and don't hold that much. I got the winter blend and filled them with the attachment and a pump sprayer tank hooked to it . I also put a few gallons of water in each tire since I am in the south and its not like we get to -30. Methanol is the main alcohol I think in them.

My tractor came loaded with rimguard - 67 gallons/tire. Adds right around 740# per tire. We can infrequently see -20F I don't want to take chances.

Has anyone heard of using plain water? A Kubota dealer I got quote from says they do. It's rarely freezing where they are. On my mountain we sometimes get snow but it's rare and does not stay long. I asked about rust from plain water and was told it's not a problem because theres "no air" inside the tire. Somehow I don't think they're really filling it up 100%. Oviously no one would use plain water where it's below freezing for any significant time.
