I have been looking for a bigger one to run my house w/ an electric start for weeks..
I recently had back surgery and 3 days later Hurricane Matthew hit..
Have you guys ever seen your wife try to pull start an 10 hp motor?? SAD, just sad..
I ended up getting the neighbor to come over..
I have a Power back 5250 that'll run the whole house except the A/C.. THATS IF, I can get it started W/O the neighbors help.
I looked on line and it CAN BE converted to electric start for about 150.00 w/ a toothed flywheel and new starter.
The flywheel P# is 611091 if anybody has 1 laying around.. Found in Tecumeh HM80-HM100 engines. Thanks, TPG

We are having one he!! of an ice storm this weekend. I may have more limbs on the ground than left in the trees around my place. It's 30 deg. outside and the freezing rain switched over to a downpour which froze on the trees even worse. Power went out at midnight. This is the first time I had to wheel the generator out to the pole and plug it into my transfer switch. Used my jump pack to crank it over. She fired right up and it's been running the house for over 2 hours now with no problems. I'm very happy with my $499 generator!

I didn't get one of these picked up like I had hoped, but I did borrow an extra generator from my father for this ice storm. Still have power so far. I am guessing since I went through the effort to go get it and get the wiring done, I wont need it. Good luck to you.

I know north central Oklahoma got hit hard like we did. I hope it misses everyone else. Still without power. Temperature got above freezing yesterday and we put 12 hours on the generator so I did the first oil change. Used it for 4 hours last evening then started it back up this morning. Must say I love electric start! I was looking back at this thread and I paid $649 for this generator not $499. As far as I'm concerned it was still a great deal. In another post I said the legs were welded on, well two of my young relatives took it upon themselves to unbox the generator before I got to it and they said the leg was welded on and they broke it. The legs are actually bolted on. All I had to do was find another bolt and it was good to go.

It's a lot easier to change oil when the generator is not on the ground.

FEL's are worth their weight in gold aren't they? Sorry to hear you are still "powerless" but at least you were prepared.
