L3940 Rear Snow Blower --> Front Blower?

My blower has a pto, it was not connected yet when the first photo was taken as the work was being done on hydraulic cylinders for the pull blade at the back of the blower.

This photo shows the pto connected and the tire chains installed.

Econor Series - Pull Type

Pronovost has this new option for not digging up soft surfaces when blowing in the spring and fall.

The wheels are hydraulically controlled and will do a far better job that any shoe or skid.

Some companies call them inverted and others call them pull type.

Anybody know the difference between L2185 and the L4479.

Our local dealer indicates the components I need to install a front mount snow blower is L4455A, L4484, L4481 and the L4479.

I ran the L4479 by google and did not find much. One thing that showed up was the auto-Hitch using a L6060. Is the L4455 the auto-Hitch?

Thanks

Garth

Reviewing the attachments provided in post #9, it looks like there are two different style sub-frame/quick hitch designs for your L3940. The newer style is a 4-point hitch, while the older style is a single point attachment (looks like a duckbill). If you haven't done so, you might want to review these attachments as there is a lot of good information.

The older style sub-frame is likely more available on the used market and a number of blower model numbers connect to it.

Found these ads and thought the pictures might help show the newer 4-point link.

I watched a YouTube on the new hitch. Wow does it look useful and easy. I think my wife could replace me plowing and using the snow blower.

The new style has an controller inside the cab that allows for the remote connection, I wonder whether the L4455A and the L4479 have the controller included in the quotes?

Thanks

Garth

Watched some of the videos. The auto-connect subframe is really neat! It eliminates the need to manually hook-up the hydraulic lines and PTO. Looks very convenient, but comes at a steep price. The auto-hitch is over $8,000 and then add on another $8,000 or so for the blower.

Wow that is certainly expensive. The typical L4455a and related addon were approx $4,000 Cdn.

On the other hand I can see so much functionality with the auto hookup. Tractors have been pretty much a male thing because many of the implements hookup but with the auto hitch I know my wife could figure it out.

Might have to try to get by this winter with pain and work towards the auto hitch. Have any of the other mfgs done the same?

Thanks for the info.

Garth,

Does your 3940 have the mid pto installed already? I have never priced it or seen it priced after the fact but I have seen it alluded to being quite expensive labor wise.

I don't have a snowblower but I do have the L2180 subframe with 7' blade.

On the Lxx60s is like a $200-300 option when purchased & I hear field installable. Not that I have one or need one on my L4060...

Mid PTO L8338 $377.00 according to Jan 2016 wholegoods price list.

ROPS Models L4240DT/GST/HST, L4740GST/HST, L5040GST, L5240HST, L5740HST require an Internal Gear Kit L8316. I think the tractor needs to be split to install this gear if not already equipped.
