See if you like this Summertime.
Used to see him playing live in Myrtle Beach a lot. Dead now though.
Very nice 👍. I saw Billy Stewart years ago at a local beach music festival. Actually that is pretty true to the original version isn't it?

Petty sure it sounds like it always did to me.

BTW when I was a kid I lived on Knob Hill just above where Lexington BBQ is today. I could sure go for some good Q right now too but when I want it I have to make it for myself. Folks out here don't even know what a hush puppy is. They think it's some kinda dog that can't bark.

Ate at Lex BBQ this week and it's good as always.

Go ahead and rub it in.
Just fix yourself a nice Boston butt or shoulder and here's all you need to feel at least close to Lex BBQ

Lexington BBQ "dip"

2 quarts white vinegar
64 ounces of ketchup
1 tablespoon ground red pepper
2 tablespoons crushed red pepper
1 tablespoon black pepper
1 tablespoon salt
10 ounces sugar

Place all ingredients in pot on stove and bring to a boil
This for restaurant quantity - cut as required.
- thin to desired consistency with water. Let cool and refrigerate. It keeps probably at least a couple months.

I know how to do it and built a smoker to do it. It's just that I have to do it myself that I'm griping about because sometimes I just want to eat it without all the work and time. I even make hush puppies, red slaw and the vinegar based table sauce with pretty much the same recipe. I don't use the sauce much myself but the wife likes it, just the meat and slaw for me. I've done it many times but only because I have to. If I do say so. I think my hush puppies are probably better than most. I use lots of finely diced onion and sneak a little diced jalapeno into them too. When I smoke up a butt, I usually have folks over to learn these Westerners all bout BBQ and what's it's really about. So far, I've had no complaints but who want's to go out in the dead of winter and fire up a smoker then tend it all night just for a BBQ craving?

I grew up near the original Rudy's in Texas. When I moved to NC I was like- "Who effed up the barbecue?! Tastes like it's spoiled."

Never did get used to it. Now I live in NH and would kill for any barbecue! Lol. :confused3:
