MF 461 Clutch "Groan"

AGCO shows that as what we always referred to as a button clutch. Yours has 5, pads, or buttons. We had them in some of our dump trucks at work. The groan is just the nature of the beast.

As Banjodunn said, they bite harder, more pressure psi. There was one in my '58 Case 310B backhoe, but metallic type. Appeared to be the original, and still looked like new, and surprisingly, so did the flywheel.

Here is the part number if you want to copy, and paste to Google, and see what it looks like. 3701008M91

Great info. Thanks DJ54. I appreciate the response.

I'm guessing that what you are hearing is clutch chatter. It's caused by uneven clutch and pressure plate surfaces. I would drive it until you need to replace the clutch. When you do that make sure you either replace the flywheel of get it resurfaced by grinding it until it's all flat again.

I watched the video and now I'm even more convinced that it's clutch chatter. I have it on my 1990 cummins and it sounds exactly like yours.

Well... I guess we'll see what happens. General consensus is 'Run it!' So that's what I'll do. Thanks for the reply.
