I just purchased the bush hog tiller for my 1705. Used it for my new garden that we are prepping now. I had grass planted in the area and it chewed it up nicely. I think we are low on phosphorous and nitrogen.

Did you get a 4ft or a 5ft tiller?

Wish I bought a fiver. My 48" is offset but does not completely cover my tracks on the other side.

I purchased the 4ft tiller. Id think the tractor could handle a 5ft tiller without issue. I did take the skid plates off so that i could get the tines into the ground a bit deeper. With them on and all the way up I was getting 3inches maybe 4 inches into the ground. So off they came

I have a 54" Taylor Way on my GC2600. Runs it without a problem, except for the occasional rock jam. Though that can happen on any size. Low speed and cruise control make it a nice job, but after doing 3 gardens in one summer having the extra width was nice. I could get it done a bit faster than with a 48, and then do a second pass as 2 of the gardens I did were breaking sod for the first time. Neither friend had a plow or anything to break it up at first, and would have done it by hand with a walk behind tiller if I hadn't done it for them.
