Now that's funny. I've used them for years with cameras & such, knock on wood, no problems with regular ground shipping, try 2 day & it takes longer??????????

I hate to this, but I don't have those problems. My carriers have been great. They also do most of the delivery for Amazon here. I was surprised to see a usps truck here on a Sunday, they were delivering for Amazon.

Late last week, the wifey was placing an order on Amazon and said that the order would be delivered on Sunday. :confused3: I figured it most be a mistake.

Sure enough, on Sunday, a guy showed up and delivered the package. :shocked: I am guessing he was one of the USPS rural delivery people since he was in a private vehicle. Having said that, he was not the usual delivery person for the USPS.

Now, I really don't understand the Sunday delivery in this case. We did not pay extra nor did we need a Sunday delivery. What was also odd, is that we ordered 3-4 items but only one item showed up on Sunday and the rest showed up in at least two different packages on Monday. :confused3: Now I understand that the orders can be shipped from different warehouses but it is still odd.

Our USPS people are good. No complaint at all about them. :thumbsup: Now, the USPS my parents have to use is a different story.

I've noticed the USPS trucks in this area on Sunday, but had no idea what they were doing. I wondered if the post office still had "Special Delivery" stamps like they did in the '60s.

Of course I'm one of those who thinks they should save money by eliminating Saturday mail delivery.

USPS delivers packages on Sundays here, too.

Yes, it's some special arrangement between amazon and USPS.

Around here, UPS is great and for the most part the post office is as well. It really depends on the individual carrier. A couple of them really have an attitude and could use a beating, however, but that's another story.

I'd say most rural areas get treated pretty well because locals are usually the delivery people.

Around my area UPS is the best for getting items from places like Amazon and their tracking is great. USPS, meh....some of the people are good but others not so much. We had one awhile back that was our carrier for a few years and would always screw up the mail. It usually smelled like cigarette smoke when it arrived too, gross.

Their tracking is horrendous but somehow Amazon's USPS tracking is much more accurate than their own site, go figure.

Like everywhere there are good workers and not so good workers. My SIL recently retired from the USPS, she was very happy to not have to deal with the holidays and working until 1am Christmas eve.

Its not just Amazon Prime. I don't have Amazon Prime and I got a delivery on Sunday. I chose something like Priority Mail and it showed up on Sunday. I think it was maybe a couple bucks more VS waiting until Friday, and I needed the item ASAP.... so I paid.

If I sent a letter through USPS to the neighbor across the street it would go to Kansas City for sorting & postmark before coming back to be delivered, close to 200 miles round trip! Some of our mail goes to KC, then through MT Ayr, IA to Des Moines, then back here according to an assistant postmaster at Mt Ayr. Mt Ary is 20 miles off I 35 which would be the direct route from KC to DM!

In a thread a few years ago:

I've a part ordered from Florida which I needed 2 days ago.

The vendor shipped it USPS 3 day priority, to the address in Fulton, MS.

USPS confirmed the correct address in an email.

USPS reports it is now out for delivery.

Wonder how long it will take?

No I ordered it last Saturday, and it shipped Tuesday morning.

USPS tracks it as shipping from FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida, going to Chattanooga, going to Michigan, and it's on it's way back to Tennessee. Hopefully they discovered their mistake and I'll see it Monday or Tuesday.

The package ended up arriving about a week late. Mechanic couldn't reschedule an install for weeks.
