What do you have for sale and how much? That's the best way to sell "stuff" is to tell what you have and how much whether here or on Craigslist or Facebook local sale sites.
I'm selling a L 30 10 HST FEL with 890 hrs, R4's, 1 rear remote
Asking $14,500

I dont bother with online forums. Usually the only interested parties are 750 miles away and dont want to pay shipping on a 100 pound part...

Ive given up on FeeBay, they take too much of a cut...

Craigslist I hate, because people always want to trade an Xbox with 44 games for a $7500 quad. Or some jamoke who thinks a 15 year old sled with 5500 miles is somehow worth $3500. My items eventually do sell, but I put up with a lot of BS beforehand.

This go-around, Im just gonna trade in my B7610. Dealer has offered 1000 less than what I wanted if I sold it privately.
This is why I usually trade with my Dealer Barlows plus the 6% off state sales tax makes it hard for me to sell for as much as I get for the trade in. Will be trading in a B2650 HST FEL Front hydraulics under 50 hours and a ZD326 60" rear discharge under 60 hours tomorrow for a L3910 HST FEL Front hydraulics loaded tires Landpride 6' rotary mower

I got a quote from Barlows in Aug for an L2501. After freight they were still $2200 cheaper than my 4 local dealers. My visit last week looking at a BX25D, the salesman brought him up by name. So there must be some Botas in Upstate NY with Barlow stickers that came through his shop. He told me he cannot deny warranty work, but Id be dead last on the list. Im not overly concerned about warranty on a machine that Ill put 50-75 hrs a year on. Ill be asking him for a quote again in late March.

Every now and then, folks will complain about Craig's list and flamers who complicate your life. But, I have bought and sold a fair amount of stuff, cars, machine tools, tractors and implements, and pretty much everything went according to plan, both mine and the other party's. For example, I took down an old, fairly large TV antennae with a rotator. Before hauling it to the metal recycling center, I took a couple photos and put it on CL. Two days later, I was loading into a guy's pickup truck and putting cash into my pocket. OK.

Most curious example was my wife's 7 or 8 year old used Honda Civic Hybrid... trade in was too low, I felt, so onto CL it went with good photos. We are in Maryland. A guy in Wisconsin emailed me with questions, I scanned some documents and took a couple dozen photos. We agreed on a fair price, he flew into Baltimore's BWI airport, and drove the car home.
About a year later, he emailed me to say the car was great, and had saved him a fortune in gas on his long commute.

I have sold two tractors and a car on Craig's List. I think, now that I consider it, that pictures spell the difference in drawing attention. With only one photo or no photo, I don't even consider the offer as valid.

I have heard a lot of good things about Barlows. You are fortunate to life close enough to deal with them.

Unfortunately for me up here in ne PA, I am too far away to deal with them to include my L4200 as a trade in. :confused3:

Not so. Barlows takes trade ins often from other states just like they buy equipment from other states. Marvin is ready to travel at most times since his retirement from the Army. If you wonder about them looking at your trade in, Steve has never looked at any of my trade ins until they arrive on his lot. I am honest with him in my description and we've never had an issue concerning it not being what I described. Marvin will look when he gets there, I'm sure and he knows about the equipment.
I do car/truck trades also online with phone contact so deal is done before I go to lot with my trade in to pick up what I'm buying. Have been surprised a few times when dealing with individuals when I arrived and saw what I was buying that left a lot to be desired from the description the seller provided.
