US Postal Service

Another day another USPS screw up. Package yesterday was too long to fit inside mailbox so carrier, instead of 5 minute delivery to house as is normal, just jammed the package in the box, left the door open, exposing part of package. Anybody driving by could have seen/stolen it!

I had a package that would fit in my mailbox once. The mail person left it sitting balanced on top of my mailbox. It was a computer hard drive.

I was waiting the following Saturday on the mail person and discussed with them how this was not acceptable. So far they have not done that again but I constantly get other people's mail.

If I had continual problems with USPS I would simply quit using them.

Yep. I go straight from mailbox to garage and toss 80% in the trash day after day.

I use a PO Box. They have recycle bins in the middle of the room with the PO Boxes. One person after another dumps half of what is in their PO Box straight into the recycling. That is a huge burden to the USPS when they are not getting full postage rate. To add insult to injury they now have to empty those recycling bins all day long.

The reason the USPS is not charging full rate for the bulk business mail is because the mailers do most of the work, including delivery to destinations and carrier sortation. Most larger offices ship their recycled mail to their local processing facility which in turn sells the paper to recycling firms. There is no cost involved in the shipping because it is sent back on the trucks that deliver mail to the offices.

Only in America. I guess that is all good, but it still seems to be a waste. Certainly an irritant to me.

Woo hoo.... my package got to Ft. Wayne at 1:45pm today... 36 hours England to NY. 9 days NY to IN.

Package showed up at house on Saturday! Yay!!! Except we weren't home.... so they took it back to the Post Office. I have to pick it up in person Monday.

I don't put mine in the trash; I put it in the recycling bin. Of course, that probably means I'll get it back in another form someday.

Depends on your definition of the word trash. Growing up when they were teaching us to recycle, stuff that would be reused or recycled was called trash, stuff going to the landfill was called garbage.
