using box blade rippers to break up ice on driveway

Post that video if you don't mind. People up here in Alaska pay to have the hardpack removed from there driveways. It usually pops up in big chunks but it helps everything dry out faster during breakup.

I pushed the "dirty" piles of ice chunks to a spot where I can reuse any road base that got mixed in.
As stated above I'd drop the rippers in the winter to make grooves. The grooves help with traction and if you are the type that adds sand, ice melt or ash etc the grooves help hold the material.

Yah I wrote a post about a serrated front blade and didn't get much back. If I have to I can get an extra blade and weld on bolts every few inches to make one.

Suppose you reversed the rippers in your box blade and pulled in the top link just enough to keep the blade well off the gravel. Then the rippers would drag instead of cut so they wouldn't pull up huge chunks of frozen gravel. Haven't tried this.

Thx for the video- that's the type and reason for the serrated blade. I can adjust the top link and ripper depth so they only make grooves. But with only 700# box and no down pressure on the 3pt the rippers aren't turning up gravel. But if it did I'd welcome it- just adds grip

If you set blade at right height on your box scraper does a god job also, it will shave the ice enough for traction, take that glaze off

Try just angling the blade tip more Towards the tractor and leaning on the down pressure if you got it. It does a pretty good job of breaking mine up but for most of my gravel I leave the ice right there so I don稚 end up reshaping the crushed stone
The lip of the bucket minus the pirrhana tooth bar works best on the blacktop section. A little downpressure at a 45 degree angle peels it up fairly well . If it痴 punkyfrom salt application it goes even better.
