Buying Advice What to buy for remote Alaska property

Seems like 25HP might be a bit small for your needs, especially with a backhoe.
Maybe consider 30-35HP.
Too small, will have you buying 2 tractors! Trading the 1st one in (loosing cash), to buy another.

Thanks again for all your input. I don't mean to sound like I don't appreciate your perspectives, but I'm going with the pocket knife rather than the.45 auto.

I'd love to have a JD 110 on the property, but I considered what's involved in getting a larger tractor to my property and opted for the 25 hp LS XJ2025H. I'll be getting it with FEL, logging forks with grapple, and plumbed for front hydraulics. Will follow up with pics when I get the tractor.

You will have fun with that. Going from 0 to 1 tractor is huge. My first CUT was a 15hp grey market Shibaura, I did a ton of work with that. I sold that which led to a 24hp John Deere 850.which I sold to buy a 33hp New Holland 1925, which I sold to but a 40hp New Holland T2310...

Congratulations on your Gateway Tractor!

I still miss that little Shibaura.

We all had to take that first step... Tractor evolution - I started with renting several different models for a number of years on our property.

Little 'Bota with backhoe. Think it was 18hp @ pto. Then a JD 790. Think it was 27hp - gross.

Probably 15 years before I could afford the JD 110.

Alot of interest in the LS tractors in this area. My neighbor is trying to work a deal on a 32hp TLB. From what I see, they appear to be a strong contender for "best tractor buy - for the buck"!

Enjoy your new machine and best of luck with your "homestead" project. Be safe.
