I see most covered trailers turned into storage lockers when not in use lol

Sometimes true I'm sure---Thought about buying a 20' enclosed tandem and keep my quad and ZT in it when not in use--The boss preferred a 2 stall shed, and a shed it is. I'll just stick with my 16' open tandem for now.

Thanks for all of the comments and suggestions. I think that a 16 footer will be best. Yes, it will be for storage when not in use, which will free up some space in the garage! I forgot about the doors on this unit. Can it take the weight of a tractor? for a 7K weighted one they say I can haul about 4900 pounds in it. If I get the barn door model where do you get ramps at to drive the tractor over?

Thanks again for all the great advice! it really helps me out

you can also block the ramp door with 4x4, 6x6, etc to give it some extra support. i would also go with a 20ft or longer trailer.

Good to question door strength. The fall down doors seem pretty flimsy to me. Maybe for a dirt bike or something but a tractor with loaded tires and a weight box would put 3000# on the center of the door.

I'd plan on 18 foot long and 10K GVW. I had not seen any mention of loaded tires and extra weights. This along with several hundred pounds of ramps, fuel, chains etc. could easily be pushing 4,900 lbs.

I had an expensive enclosed ATC seamless rubber floored trailer for vintage cars and got rid of it. a flatbed is so much easier and you might find that you don't have enough height with an enclosed trailer for your tractor or mowers. my cab as an example, or mower with ROPS would not fit under the roof of my enclosed trailer. I got an 18 foot American Hauler with wood deck and it works for everything from cars to cab tractors.

I would go 8' wide at a minimum and 16 or 18' long.

14' is just not long enough.

Ditto this.

the longer will pull better ( easier to ballance weight, so no teeter totter with tounge ).. and it will be easier to back up.

figure the max length you will need, then add 2 feet. ;)

I have Rice 14K MAGNUM trailer. Its 20 Foot with a 2 Foot dovetail with regular ramps. Wood floor, toolbox, Double axle, stake pockets, etc. Very tough, very easy to pull. I can pull it behind my 3/4 ton Ford F250. I LOVE IT!!!! It has brakes too. I put a 7 thousand pound tractor, filled with gallons and gallons of diesel and almost a one thousand pound rear blade. The trailer dosen't sink that much. If I were you I would check out Rice Trailers Fully Powder Coated Built in USA

So many trailer manufacturers to choose from...

If you are going south anyway you will hit the majority of USA trailer manufactures. I'm in a similar boat and was able to get exactly what I wanted for less than any of the major brands- with better quality.

I would TRY to STAY AWAY from powder coating!
The manufacturers tout it as being the best, but it is a brittle coating, and chips easily.
Then too: There is good powder coating, and poor powder coating.
My 14K equipment trailer IS powder coated.
I wish it were NOT!
Two part epoxy paint is much more forgiving of damage, and is easily retouched.
