18 going to 27, 40% chance of flurries and winds WNW 20mph.
It isn't going to be all that bad of a day. The melt has slowed down and that is a good thing.

RNG, that battery info website is good. Not many people appreciate that even with deep discharge batteries, you can't take the full 100AH out of an 100AH battery and get a decent battery life. I see lots of campers with compact Honda quiet running (52dB) 1000W generators.

Knowing what the numbers mean is one thing, actually finding out what they are for any given battery can be challenging though. For example, my illustrious mechanic recommended a starting battery for the van, but the company that sells it, NAPA, doesn't even publish an amp hour rating for it.:confused2:

One of those little Hondas is on the list of "camping equipment" to secure for the van. People like them so much, they ask near new prices for old ones, and can't even be bothered to include the hour meter reading in their "for sale" ads...

48°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 75° today. Chance of rain this afternoon, which is bringing a cold front through with it. High of 45° tomorrow, and 1-3" snow on Saturday.

The visit by the Lowe's regional manager yesterday apparently stirred things up a bit. Wife tells me communication with everyone yesterday was quite forthcoming. I expect after he left our house yesterday morning and went to the store, there was some serious derriere chewing. Their resolution for the missing foot on the 'fridge side is to install two more cabinets (upper and base) with a small matching granite countertop on the other side of the 'fridge to fill the space to the end of the wall. They are also going to add another shelf to the glass front cabinet over the sink, and move the light switches (yet again) slightly away from the stove panel. All of this at no charge, of course. Wife was somewhat happy with this arrangement, and agreed. They were also able to track down the missing 600ft² of hardwood flooring, which arrived yesterday. So, after the morning show-and-tell, the installers made some very good progress. All of the cabinets are in now (minus the two new ones), and the floor laying has continued. I expect they'll get most of that finished today.

Meeting at work yesterday with the engineers from Woods went very well. Nice guys, and very passionate about what they do.

oh boy, I just got the message that my crazy drunk farmer neighbor wants to borrow my tractor. I guess driving it by his house yesterday to go mow the roadsides (more picking up trash than mowing plus mowing some big weeds) got him thinking that tractor might do.
This should be interesting. Need to look up what the Massey's rear lift capacity is; not sure this guy's ancient disc is too heavy for it. Probably not.

Drew, have you ever heard the expression that "no good deed will remain unpunished for very long"?

Drew, I'm sorry you're getting snow, but I'm glad we aren't. David, those critters look content. Buppies, sorry about the paver, it's a ***** when you miss a day like today and have to work in the cold. But hey, go fishing!
Pretty day, around 70°, then like the rest of you, a week of cold.

Good Morning! 54F @ 6:45AM. Partly cloudy. High 68F. Winds WSW at 5 to 10 mph.

March is still lambing around, and is expected to stay that way for the next week. May get into the '70s over the weekend.

One question I'd ask myself before loaning out a tractor is if the person borrowing it could afford to fix it. Then I'd wonder why he wasn't using his own instead of borrowing mine. Given the nature of the answers, I might just offer to do his work myself, just for peace of mind.

Found a well pictured guide for installing the RV refrigerator in the van, for a 'fridge one size larger than I thought would fit. It means disassembling the cabinet and moving an internal partition, but that looks straightforward and will make resurfacing it easier too. Still need to line up some cabinet grade plywood for the new doors and drawer fronts though. And locking latches and drawer slides as well.

Forecast called for several inches of snow this morning, no snow, and I don't think we even got rain. Still have snow on ground but it is melting more each day.

I received the replacement fan for my security system ordered from Amazon, (Lorex wanted me to send unit back for replacement of whole unit). The new fan is awesome! Very quiet, seems to move plenty of air. Wife is very happy. (Noctua is the brand)

well I went over and talked to him...his ancient JD 1010 is dead in the field, he has no money to fix it, to fix anything he breaks, to hardly feed himself. I looked at his disc, not too big, pins for three point were either missing, wobbly loose or questionable, so some work needs to be done on that, though I have the parts. My Massey will pick up a little more than 3000 pounds, though I don't have front weights. Maybe this is a good impetus for me to find out what they cost. Hopefully they are compatible with the grill guard on there now.

I told him to call me next week after the snow melted and things started to warm up and I'd come over and see if we could hook up the disc. Then I will run it for a little while, then give it to him. He needs to disc and then run a hiller which he didn't think my tractor would work with, though I have no idea.
The tractor has to come home here at night for sure.

And I, in consideration of possibly breaking something on my tractor, which really is unlikely, I get some seat time on a disc. This is when the advantages of 4wd come in, which this tractor lacks, but his old JD was 2wd so he certainly is familiar with that. Looked to be a 7 foot disc, manageable in sandy soil.

Need to get coffee started. 58ー with partly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 85ー with lots of sun. Lots of walking yesterday. It was warm enough to sit on patio yesterday evening after dark. First time this year.
Getting emails from Detroit Edison saying that restoring power to our home will be delayed because of the number of outages. Generator must be running because I am not getting phone calls from my monitor system. While typing this got a email saying power is back on. Michigan got high winds yesterday from a storm front that moved threw.
RNG, living on 1 battery will be difficult. Using Led lighting will help. But anything else will eat up a single battery fairly quickly.
Buppies, hope you get paver back quickly.
Good Morning All.

Good that your power came back. DTE president was just on the news, saying this is the largest outage in their history. Consumers also. We have been told Sunday before we get power back. Lost uverse tv and internet also. I've got 3 of those freaking pines down in the yard. Lots of small branches down also.

Have fun down there in the warm stuff, we are still in winter of sorts up here.
