If you look closely at the Nitto G2 and Toyo AT2 you'll see they are the same, apparently they are both part of the same company now. Found that out last year when I was researching replacments for my truck.
I have run a couple of sets of Toyo AT2s on my '04 Ram.
Toyos are excellent tires that last a long time, have good traction and stay balanced.
None of the new E rated tires are actually "10 ply", or "10 ply E rated". That is an advertising scam. They are actually 10 ply "rated". This means either 2 or 3 ply sidewall with 5 plies under the tread and have an E rating. Read the specifications imprinted right on the sidewall. Just call them E rated.
A lot of your traction problem is because the Cummins is a heavy engine. Without putting weight in the back of you pickup, you probably won't find any tire that gives the traction you would like.
Rick,
I have run a couple of sets of Toyo AT2s on my '04 Ram. Plus a set of highway tread Toyos. With 2WD, you might consider a set of AT on the rear and HT on the front. I hope you have a limited slip diff.
Thanks for the info.None of the new E rated tires are actually "10 ply", or "10 ply E rated". That is an advertising scam. They are actually 10 ply "rated". Not all michelin model tires are the same.I bought the defender series m/s for my truck and they have great traction.I've had traction problems on wet grass with my travel trailer hooked up and wet boat launches with my 1,100 lb boat/trailer. The Michelin's just don't have any grip on anything but pavement. With my new property and hopefully a new tractor in my future, I'd like to find a tire that has some better traction with decent tread life.
