Funny you should say that. I was planning on it but wasn't sure if I should use a bolt or just weld in a piece of round stock

A bolt will work gooder-un. :D

I can't believe there's no comments on this yet. My God man I have to tell you that you did an outstanding job on that. To say I'm impressed would be the biggest understatement of 2017 so far. I like to think out the details weather they are big or small on my projects and you never missed one on this job. It's easy to see you put a lot of time into this before you even picked up the tools to stat it. Your welds are great, the fit and finish is perfect and top points for the design. Take it for what it's worth but I have to grade it at a "A+"
Hands down one of the best I've seen in a ballast box build. Not saying this because you gave me a little credit which I do appreciate. It don't happen often but it truly is an outstanding job.
Tip my lid to you. Thanks for posting.

Well, Ive been working on my welding skills and I wanted to build my own box rather then buy one. The idea is the bottom half will be fill with concrete, about 800lbs . The top will house a couple chain saws, ax, hammer , oil and fuel. It turned out pretty good just not sure if I should add anything else before I sand and paint. The inside will have a wood floor and will be sprayed with bed line to protect the blades on my saw's. I'm hoping to paint it red if I can find the perfect match for Mahindra. Special Thanks to Paul Short for the inspiration, I really enjoyed challenging myself.

Some how I deleted the pictures. Sorry I'll figure out how to get them back up

Pretty hard to follow a thumbs up from 4shorts. Your work must be near perfect and it's great that he helped you out.
For anyone new here, do a search of 4shorts' projects or you tube videos and prepared to be impressed.

I will second your comment six dogs... extremely well done, Bigtyme... that's big league! I know I owe a lot to 4shorts as well. Paul inspired me on several of my BX mods that I absolutely enjoy using, and he even personally helped me out on a couple of them with details.:thumbsup:

Thanks Paul ,I'm hoping to paint primer this weekend or maybe add a few more things to it. Keep the videos coming and go check out a mahindra so I can get some ideas. Glad you made it through the storm. I'll get up there one day

Do not use regular "paint" on that fantastic work!
Rust will find you readily if you do use "paint"!
Use TWO PART marine epoxy paint!
Both primer, and finish, should be marine TWO PART epoxy paint!
Forget about the Mahindra match!
Use TWO PART marine epoxy paint!!!

Not bad advise if you want the best... Shell Oil and others demand that on the offshore rigs. I think it is three coats. That said, I would probably just clean and surface prep real well (very important) and prime the same day before the metal has a chance to oxidize much. I like matching the OEM paint so I would rattle can spray.

Great looking build, Your dealer should have a quart of Mahindra red if you decide to do that. I got a quart from my dealer when I put the Meyers setup on mine.

Very impressive! I think you should paint it red as planned, and then add a little Swiss Army cross logo to it since it is the Swiss Army Knife version of a ballast box.

Factory Mahindra red is a beautiful color.
