One of the unexpected occurrences with my hearing loss is as it progressed loud noises became more and more uncomfortable. Noise began to bother me. Whereas with good hearing it did not bother me to get on a tractor with a corn picker going, should have been wearing ear protection but I didn't understand the damage process. Now just starting the engine requires that I begin by donning ear protection first thing.
You should wear hearing protection at all times on just about any tractor or lawn mower going, even cab tractors. Just because you are comfortable in the cab does not mean that your ears are not being destroyed.
