Old cranes are very dangerous if you are not experienced operator. It can be easy to exceed limits of the crane and flip it. Similar crane by me sold last year for near scrap value
Aside from already mentioned issues, it may be illegal to operate unless licenced. My boss bought/sold some last year, was strict rules that only one employee could operate them, has crane operators licence. We were told that the boss himself couldnt legally use his own crane for a privete use on his own property. I have no state code/law to back that up, was told this by the licenced operator.
You got alot to think about. Rental may be your best option.
Rustyiron, s219, I scoured the internet trying to find one of these cranes messing with a container. I found this video of a 25 lifting a container, which is a 25,000 pound capacity, 50' boom crane. Here is a link to the set-up of the lift. I also found a video showing what a PITA it is to get in and out of one of these cranes and now fully understand I'll need a ground man (or need to teach my sister how to run the crane).
Anyway, I've made an inquiry to the guy selling the crane and hopefully I'll get a call back.
I like this video....
Why did he do it? Because he could, I guess!
