I didn't get a pic but today saw a local contractor hauling a bobcat on a 16' utility trailer. No tie downs whatsoever. "Ahh it's heavy it won't go anywhere" Why can't the DOT ever get these morons.

I guess my mother's boyfriend hauls all his tractors and equipment without straps, on a trailer that over half the deck is rotted out. He even has my twin haul for him.

I asked my twin one day what would happen if he had to lock his brakes up and the tractor smashes the truck?? He replied saying that it would never happen. They always leave enough space and drive carefully.
I then asked but you can't predict other drivers if you get cut off. He didn't really have a reply

My older brother was helping his son do some work in the backyard. They decided that they needed more than shovels and muscle. They borrowed a Bobcat skidsteer from one friend and a trailer from another. The Bobcat weighed much more than the trailer was rated for, flattened the springs and trashed the trailer, but they went slow in the neighborhood so it was ok.

Seems that whenever someone gives you an answer that it could never happen, so why worry about it usually find out at some point in the future find that the odds slowly creep up against them and then they can tell you what can happen. It doesn't take but one time to find out

One has to wonder if it's an ignorance of physics or just plain laziness that leads to cavalier disregard of the consequences if things go pear shaped that one sees in some of these examples. I myself tend to err on the other end of the spectrum; a couple years ago my neighbor needed a couple new tires on the motorhome, found a good deal a few towns away. We took them in my car (Pontiac Vibe with tiedown points in the back) and I had them lashed down with four of those HF ratchet straps. I didn't want them to shift if any evasive action was necessary, or compete for head space if we wound up upside down.
