Got a "free" 6 foot disc and I am looking to rebuild it, but could use a little help.

A friend of mine got a new disc and he gave me his old one... Yeah... the frame was "repaired" (welded wierd) when I got it, so I cut the thing back apart and huck-bolted it together (the best welders I know are very discerning about when to weld and when NOT to).

Anyway, I've started taking the thing apart, looking at finding new discs for it, but it seems I need some disc bearings as well. The one I pulled off had the number, "651287-R2" on it. I suspect I am going to have to get second-source parts because I can't even find this number on cross-reference lists.

I attached some pictures. I appreciate any help!

Looks like it needs to soak in diesel then greased up.

An old .... used & abused..... cheap angle frame disc.....
Are you (OP) absolutely convinced that it is worth a rebuild?

Those box type bearings have a lot of slop in them when new. Ken Sweet

The one I pulled off had the number, "651287-R2" on it.

According to this thread:
Disc harrow bearings - Farmall & International Harvester (IHC) Forum - Yesterday's Tractors

The number you pulled off is the bearing housing, not the bearing itself. Try cleaning it up really well and see if you can find a number on the actual bearing, then you should be able to cross reference it.

I'm with fried. Put 200 bucks in this thing and you've spent too much. I think you'd be further ahead to get a good working disc. Or a heavy disc in equally bad shape for small money and fix it up. At least then you'd have something of value.

I think you will find the bearings at ASC - Agri Supply has farm supplies, tractor implements & mower parts.
There is a lot of slop in the bearing. It is filled with grease. They are also know as "Friction Bearings". I do not replace unless they break.
