Comparison Another Kubota vs. Deere Quandary

Just curious, but how often do you take your loader arms off and not just the bucket?

I got an R, in large part, because of this and the 3 sp tranny. I'm thinking now, both were the wrong reasons.
On my second tractor, which I finish mowed with, I took it off all the time, and it was quick to do.
On my current tractor, usually leave it on, since it has backhoe, which has been off once. I finish mow usually with my non loader tractor.
Depends on what you do with the tractor the most.

One thing I haven't seen someone bring up is, I have the JD with 2 pedals, I love the peddle layout, everything is easy to get to and work. I find myself hitting both pedals at the same time sometimes when I'm paying more attention trying to see the loader than I am where my foot is positioned.

That being said I could live with the heel toe set up but over all would still prefer the two pedals.

And if I was going to do a ton of mowing I would take the loader off just for maneuverability reasons and shortening the tractor profile a bit.

Likely I won't take it off though.

SSQA is another must have for any tractor I ever own. I switch from bucket to forks to snow plow quick and easy..

I switch from bucket to grapple quick and easy, probably just as quick and easy as the SSQA. Don't see the need since I had no SSQA equipment prior to buying the tractor.

I doubt I'll remove more than the bucket when mowing. Don't see the point. I don't mow acres however.

Your choice - I disagree.

Wherever did you get that idea? Certainly, all I have to do is slap down the money and I can have my choice of several backhoes for it. The brochures all feature backhoe photos and rave about them. I don't know why anyone would even begin to suggest they can't have a backhoe.

How many folks here NEED or even WANT backhoes? Somehow this item gets pitched as though its indispensable like a front bucket on an FEL.

Depends on the Deere model. I have 3 but I don't know what to do with two of them. Stuff I have but don't need.

Can I show you mine? Really? That's BS. I have a draw bar. 'Nuff said.

See above.

Sadly, it came with mine though I know I'll never use it. Not even once.

Depends on the model. I have yet to remove mine, but it's at least as easy to remove as the Kubota. I wonder if I ever will?
I think most new buyers hear this and they are thinking about the bucket being hard to remove on an e series - it's not. It is quick attach. Simple as pie.

That's all that counts. I'll keep my green tractor.

No feeding the brand fire, such clarifying, E models are being discussed, you are using your R model to defend JD. Please tell us your estimate of added cost of an equal HP R model over E model?

How long do I have to wait to come to this realization? Will it happen in this lifetime or the next one? :) :)

It will never happen for you. Using your earlier descriptions, you barely use your tractor. You evidently have a small number of jobs for the tractor to do based on the fact you've never had it out of mid range and you've never removed the FEL. AS to what percentage of tractor owners fall into this category, who knows, doesn't matter. What matters is your realization that some of the posters on this thread use their tractors for a very wide spread of tasks. Thus, some features might be critical for them and totally senseless for you. SSQA for example. :)

I remove my FEL at least six times a year. I'm thinking Quick Hitch FEL was a very good reason for me. So how much money did you waste on your R model versus E model?

Anytime talk about single-treadle versus twin-pedals comes up and people have such strong opinions, I feel like I must be a special very dextrous minority, having to operate both Kubota and Deere products interchangeably. I don't really have issues with either. Once you're on the tractor for a few minutes doing serious work, the foot motions sort of fade into the background. If you're not so focused on your work that the controls are still occupying your mind, you're not working the tractor hard enough!! Now if you have some sort of injury or disability, then one or the other setups may indeed be more critical, and that I agree with.

There is a big misconception about how treadles work. You're not rocking the whole thing with your foot. You're either operating the forward peg by the front of foot with heel resting on the floor, or you're operating the rear peg with your heel and have the front of your foot on the floor. At least that's how it's been with my two Kubotas. Very fluid motion. I actually wish my RTV had a treadle, as many times I am in tight spaces and would love to be able to change directions more efficiently.

You and me both!!!!! Those who complain about treadle design need to drive an RTV for a few minutes..... :D

We have a gator and a Polaris 500cc RTV here at work and I understand what you mean there, if forward and reverse was like on a hydrostatic tractor, that would be life changing.

Technical terminology, only Kubota makes an RTV.
