50 hour service done

I had an interesting experience at my dealer's location a couple weeks ago during their parts sale going on with the dealer's 100 year anniversary celebration.

I had done my 50 hr service the middle of last year and had decided that my next hydro service to be done in the future at 250 hrs, that I would switch from Agco Permatran to Kubota udt1 because kubota product is a synthetic and would offer better flow options in winter for my front axle and main hydro system.

But I noticed something funny at the dealer's so I started asking some questions. It turns out now that Permatran now is a blended synthetic and the labeling has changed since last year in both color and wording/description years. So we had a couple parts guys and some service guys out in the aisle comparing the specs on the 2 products because I had noticed this change. They were comparing a lot of specs on the new labeling of the 2 products and both are what they referred to as "category 4 " products for "product load capacity" and " flowability ". It seems the Permatran product because of the synthetic description, has changed as well now that it is a blended synthetic. It was interesting also because they are a very large dealer operation and their 5 gallon pails are now showing the new labeling and their smaller containers still have the old labeling description and coloring. (like my 5 gallon pail of last year had).

My dealer is both a complete Kubota and Massey dealer but what I started with this questioning of the labeling colors and descriptions was new to them. When I asked about the prices of each, there is currently about a 35% difference in price between the udt1 and Permatran yet now has the same performance features. . . So I bought some of the new Permatran to have handy before maybe prices get rebalanced. :)

I just changed my oil in my tractor this past week. I plan on doing the hydro and front axle when i return home from work. Im glad I didn't fill my tires. First thing I notice about peoples 50hrs service is how much of a pain it is to put that rear tire back on. And if you all wanted to know Im using permatran. Indiana weather isn't that cold so i don't thing its necessary to use amsoil. And if it does get that cold I'll simply avoid using my tractor like the plague. IF it was cabbed with a heater then id be in it. I to had the dealer throw in the filters when i purchased.

Did you guys remove the front tires when servicing the front axle?

I don't see any thing to gain by removing the front tires.

If you had gotten the backhoe, the rear tire is easy to remove, you have a have 3 built in jacks. :D
