Ah-oh, I said yes

When I get the 'Scam" calls several times a day, I interrupt them and tell them that UPS is at my door, "I'll be right back". Then I set down the phone and wait.

We decided for the near future that the phone recorder will answer all the calls. I set it to pick up on the second ring.

I have since unplugged the house phone and don't answer the cell if the number is not in my contact list. They'll leave a message if its important.
Me also.
Still have landline, all calls go to answer machine. If I know the voice I pick up.
On cell, if not in contact list, leave a message.

That's the reason we canceled and unplugged the house phone. Got an average of 4 to 5 calls a night. Got tired of survey takers getting upset and argue when you ask to be removed from there list.

Usually get 2 to 4 calls a day from scammers on my cells. Have two, one personal, one for work. Work phone has to be answered period since my name and number are listed in a company data base. But when I answer the work phone, if someone goes into a sales pitch, I just hang up. Lately it's been "Card Holder Services". But I've also get quite a few calls about recently staying at "one of our hotels". Robo calls immediately get reported to the do not call list.

I do the same. It's sad we have come to this stage, can't even answer the phone without fearing a scam.

The one that got me most recently is: it was a local number, it rang once and it wasn't saved in my phone so I didn't answer and they instantly rang again so I answered thinking it was someone important and it was a telemarketer .

I get one or two calls a week not registered on my phone, I also have my work cell forwarded to my cell, I figured I'm prob gonna be riddled with cancer carrying 3 smart phones around so I condensed them. If they don't leave a message, I don't call back.

I operate via cell phone only. Do have a home fax for the rare business need. I think I am doing my part to combat the scam because if anyone calls my home number the get the irritating fax noise. My business and personal only have my cell.

But that said, it's a tough decision for me to answer or not... being that my cell is my business and personal phone. I do look at the caller ID/number and make a decision whether to let it go to mail or not. If it is important, I figure they will leave a message... if not... oh well.

We screen all calls through the answering machine and never pick up unless someone we know starts talking. Seriously considering dumping the land line now that we all have cell phones. Just no justifiable need to keep the land line anymore.

The phone rang, caller Id showed a local number so I answer with hello. I heard a half second of noise as if someone was moving their phone from ear to ear then a cheerful giggling girl said she had a problem with her headset. I forget what was said in the next 3 seconds, other than me saying yes and instantly wondering if I just fell for the phone scam that has been on the news lately.

Anyone else fall victim to these vulchers? Is there anything we can do to save ourselves from their deceiving ways?

Oh yes. "Emily" has been calling me for a few weeks now. She really ought to get that headset looked at!

Another good reason to drop the land line besides saving some $$$... and I recommend registering on the 'Do Not Call' government site. This cut our unsolicited calls to virtually zero.
