The transmission does have a reservoir and the fluid can be changed but not easily. I just checked mine a few minutes ago. However, it does not have a filter. The operator's manual states it is a sealed unit with lifetime fluid. I changed fluid on my John Deere sealed unit too. For details the transmission schematic is page 8. It would have been nice to have a fully serviceable transmission, but the step up to a John Deere did not justify the $3000 price difference.

Just as a matter of info, "Husky" is made by MTD and is a different animal than Husqvarna.

Thanks for the correction. I'll be more accurate and point out this same mistake others are also seeming to make ....

Well if your getting technical the other brand is Huskee. I have always known Husky to be short for Husqvarna.

Yep, around here if you call one of their chainsaws anything other than Husky, you're going to get a funny look and maybe someone will hand you a handkerchief. I rarely hear anyone use the full name "Husqvarna" and this after many years around tree crews and loggers. It may be because those guys can't actually spell or say "Husqvarna", but Husky is not a problem.

Hopefully nobody will confuse Husky with the cheapo "Huskee" stuff at Tractor Supply.

yep - you're right. Huskee is the correct spelling. "Husky" makes a lot of stuff, but not lawn mowers. Neither one makes Husqvarna as far as I know. But then, I am 'quiet' (sic) certain that I don't know it all :)

Sorry to distract the conversation...

The triple bagger arrived today. I can confirm that part # 582559601 is the correct one. It comes with two different mount brackets "A" and "B". "B" is the right one and much easier to install than "A" which requires bolt replacement. The lower discharge chute semi-permanently mounts to the mower deck using two bolts and screw-on knobs installed in existing holes in the mower deck.

Nope..possibly one of the lower end Husqvarna models at Lowe's. This one can only be purchased at a Husqvarna dealer. MTD uses an 11 digit serial number. My new tractor has a 13 digit serial number and the first two digits do not match any of MTD's product categories. I have not been able to find any other garden tractor manufacturer using the K66 Tuff Torq transmission, other than John Deere's X500 series. All of the lower models either have the K46, K58 (very limited) or cheaper version of the Tuff-Torq.

Brands Manufactured by MTD

Simplicity uses the K-66 in my 2010 Conquest 54" cut.

Well I heard from the dealer on the mulch kit. He called and talked to his Husqvarna Rep. That was definitely the wrong part number. The Rep even had the conversation I had with Husqvarna tapped so he was already aware of the situation. They had taken all my info when I talked to them. They are now claiming the correct part number is 965894003. That part is $64.99 instead of the $179.99 I paid for the wrong kit. Hopefully this will be the correct mulch kit.

I did look at 2017 Simplicity Conquest, but it had two major drawbacks. The Simplicity Conquest was priced between $6200 and $8000, nearest dealer over 100 miles away and included power steering and EFI. The price of a Simplicity made it worthy to consider going up a little more for a Kubota diesel GR2120 ($9100). The John Deere X500 series was priced $6000 to $7500 (EFI version). The Husqvarna is $3000 for a similarly equipped tractor without power steering.
