At this point, I had the confidence in which parts I needed so I ordered the seals from Hoye. I inspected the seal collar #6 on the diagram and it appears to be in great shape and very smooth. I also believe it is pressed on as it will not move and is pressed all the way down on the axle pic#1. So, now I'm just waiting on the mailman to get me my seals. Not sure all do but some of the many seal collars on these Yanmars have a rubber coating on the inside that seals to the shaft. Just for information. Not disturbing yours it should make no difference.

That very well may be the case with mine Winston. The only thing that has me wondering is where the o-ring part #7 goes. If the diagram is set up in the actual order of assembly then it would be smashed up against the axle with the collar. Perhaps that would be used in lieu of the rubber coating you describe if the collar needed replacement?

FWIW. I mentioned it earlier in another post I had to replace a seal. I just hit the collar with the emery cloth and let it go. I use to get a drip or two after I parked it but that has seemed to quit. Yours is in much better shape. To good almost!! Make sure to check the seal to it and it doesn't seem to big.

Many of them do have a rubber insert on the inside of the collar (like the one on the rear axle). It kind of welds to the shaft. Heavy prying is needed or cutting it off. Some like on the brake shaft just had an Oring behind it and those were more free and slid off easy.

Like Winston said it looks good and if its not easy to move it probably has a decent seal under it.

I believe you are thinking right, that sleeve probably does not have the rubber inside and is sealed with the o-ring against the stub axle face. That o-ring appears to be a G35 which is about 1.34" ID. Guessing that is probably about axle size?

I have yet to look at the parts breakout but if an oring appears and you have not removed one or seen a groove for one in anything yet it is behind that collar. If it were me I would pull that collar off and replace the 30+ year old oring. Your into it this far, may as well do it right.

I haven't been on TBN for a few days and came across this thread. Glad I did because at some point I'm going to have to change a knuckle seal on my 2210d. I would assume that it would be the same as Dicemans 2000d. My only question is how much work is it to also install the repair sleeve?

You talking the seal collar? If so, not much you pry the old one off and just slip the new one on
