I think my adapter maybe at the PO, will get tomorrow. Will post once I try.
Did you get it?

Are you going to post detailed pictures for the rest of us that prefer to only deal with neutrons because there is no charge?

I find it odd that att has had this over a year now? and people still have such a hard time signing up!

Ya I find that odd too, but AT&T has around 140 million subscribers which is more than all other carriers combined(except for verizon) so in the big picture the 10,000+ or so mobley subscribers(just a guess I really have no idea) get lost in the wash.

you would think their corporate training for activating devices would be up to date by now. heck.. if it was a cell phone, the models they sold 2ys ago would be obsolete by now.

So I just chatted, and "Natalie D" says that $20/mo is for the plan, but doesn't include the "line charges".
She lists it as $135 (before taxes) for the monthly cost (which includes the $20/mo plan).

Seems directly opposite of what everyone here is saying.
Are people missing that only to be surprised on their first bill?

Thoughts?

Sounds like your talking to regular customer service and not the connect car dept., no the plan is $20 stand alone, not an add on line. Its been well documented for almost a year now, so no surprise charges

Does Best buy know about it?

meaning, can I order it for $0 "with a plan", or do I have to pay the $99 for the device?

They should but just like AT&T depends on who you talk to, Always refer to the plan as stand-alone unlimited at&t connected car and they should be able to look it up.

Someone on the DSL forum got activated at best buy and posted this picture. I believe you can get with contract at best buy which does make the device free.

Also this is straight off att website and it shows the different connected car options, you want the unlimited stand-alone one.

Re: Cheap $20 a month Stand Alone Unlimited Rural Internet through AT&T Wireless

Thanks, that is a big relief, thought I wasn't getting a signal out here in the boonies.

Yep, that is one option, second is att.com/activatemobley, third is go to your local AT&T store.

I couldn't get the website to work, so just spent a total of 57 minutes on the phone. Took a long time to get to the right department.

The trick is ask for the "connected car unlimited data plan, for $20/mo, standalone". And keep asking and asking and asking, until you get to the right person.

I got my Mobley yesterday in the mail that I ordered from Best Buy via ebay. Called AT&T and started the circus act. I told them that i purchased the Mobley and would like to activate a new service with it. They first told me that the only $20 plan they had was 1gig, then they said the plan I wanted was $40 not $20. I followed Xfaxman's instructions above and kept insisting. Finially after they guy had talked to some other people he said that it would have to be activated on the $40 plan and then they could switch it to the $20. I agreed and then he said that he would ship me a sim card. I told him the unit had one in it but he says they cant use that one????? So I should have the sim in a couple of days. He gave me his direct number and his work hours so I can call back and activate it.

I have had lots of dealings with AT&T and this one is no different. They are the most disorganized company that I have ever seen.:confused3:

Also don't call regular customer service, call the connected car dept.

Here is their # 1-866-595-1250

Again that still is no guarantee they know about it but they are the only dept that can do it and at least your at the right place. Someone in the other forum mentioned they called connected car and asked about activating the mobley on the $20 unlimited plan, the rep didn't know about it so they hung up and immediately called again, second rep same thing, hung up called again and third one new exactly what it was and had activated in 5 minutes. I like this approach, no need to fight with someone that doesn't know what they are doing, just hang up and try again.

Of course its easiest just to activate online like I did :)

Has anyone moved the SIM to a different device?
I saw on HoFo that someone did, but not sure if they kept it that way for any amount of time.

I could get 2 of these for the same money as my current 10GB (with 10GB bonus data) plan.

My chat lady said it throttled too, instead of de-prioritized. This forum shouldn't know more than the AT&T lady, but obviously does. Grrr.
