Blinking hour glass next to hour guage

LS XG3032 I am out in the field and noticed a blinking hour glass on the left side of the hour guage.

What does it mean?

I do believe it means its tracking time.

I agree with murph1.

However if the hourglass symbol has 'just appeared' and the hours indicated are close to a "scheduled maintenance" period (according to your Owners Manual), then it's a reminder symbol.

It blinks whenever the engine is running to show it is accumulating time and functioning properly. It's a carry-over from the old mechanical gauges that had a small spinning wheel or a rotating hourglass to show that the unit was actually functioning, because it's not very apparent when it's not...

I checked the owners manual and found nothing about the blinking light so I'm going with is accumulating time and functioning properly.
