Re: Recommendations for a good mower with at least 72" deck?
Thanks Pappy,
And thanks Duckslayer, I wasn't sure on the amount of land I could get mowed with the 60" per hour so that's very helpful.
Right now I have a 38" rider and it's painfully slow to mow it with that.
We also have additional lawn/areas to mow besides the big field but that's the biggest piece and that's what I spent a LONG time mowing this week. This is the first year I've mowed it with a smaller mower, usually I use my flail on the big tractor but i'd like to keep it shorter and more like finished lawn now and so I think it's time to move up in riding mower.
As far as going new I've already got a JSV 3000 I financed and I don't need another payment to make every month. So additional debt is off the table at the moment. I've been debating this over in my mind all day. I like the JD's because they have the ability to have a snow blower on it in the winter but I don't know how much I'd actually use it so not sure if I should even figure that in.
Thinking maybe the best option is to just find a good 60" or greater Zero Turn and go that route. For now any other insights are appreciated and I'll keep scouring the interwebs for options.
Honestly two to three acres is not a too much for a 60" zero turn. You can get a brand new, light duty commercial grade unit that meets your budget. Lots have 0% for 48 months which would may help your situation.
There is a Bob Cat dealer near me that sells the xrz 60" for $4999. They are well made units. The only reason I don't own one is because my dealer only had their $10k top of the line unit when I bought a couple years ago. I ended up getting a Dixon Ultra 61 which is now basically a Husqvarna MTZ 61. Looks like you have a dealer about 25 miles away. Wood Mizer in Mosinee.
Anyway most 60" zero turns will mow over 4 acres/hr. That should be plenty for two to three acres.
