The Terra Force YJR074 rotary tiller I bought from McGee Equipment a couple of years ago is a great machine when it's on the tractor, but I've never liked how "tippy" it is when parked. I scratched my head for a long time trying to come up with something that would attach to the depth skids on the sides to provide stability, but ended up just removing those skids altogether and cobbling together some parking skids from scrap lumber. Not exactly world-class engineering, but gets the job done. The beast now sits solidly when not attached, with the tines and rear leveling board off the floor, so I don't have to worry about it falling on me. The uprights are oak and the horizontal pieces are pine 2x6s. If I used the tiller a lot it might be a pain to remove and replace the skid shoes all the time, but since I only use it occasionally, it's not a big deal: just three bolts on each side. Another plus is that because I no longer need the front parking stand, I don't have to worry about forgetting to raise it and accidentally bending it when I get to the field.

I have the same tiller and the same problem.

I don't think your solution would fit my situation though, because I do use it often and switch with other implements.

And I have bent the front stand several times....

That looks nice and solid, ought to keep it from tipping over.

I set mine down on a couple 4X4's, but I am the only one that is ever around it.

Understood. I envisioned blocks that I could attach to the skids quickly by sticking in a couple of pins, but took the lazy way out.

I'm the same way: don't have to worry about anybody else. But it was a worry nonetheless. I'd put blocks under both skids, and under the parking stand, and then hope it didn't tip over backwards or slip off the blocks. Figured it was worth the extra hook/unhook time to safeguard the old tootsies. I have moved it around the shop before with a hoist too. The bolt-on blocks should make that less of a hair-raising adventure should I attempt it again.
