Mother of God Pole Barns are Expensive!

Perhaps they were only treated to .40, if so they will rot easier...

I make sure my poles are treated to .60...

I am waiting for my name to get to the top of Hoover Buildings list due to a 60 day backlog, which is due very soon. They are supposed to be a top local builder. My 40 x 40 x 12 pole building with full insulation, 6 double insulated windows, one entry door, two 10' x 12' garage doors, 18" roof overhang, three window slits (window options really expensive) in each garage door is ~$29k. They wanted $7.2k for concrete that I am going to hire out separately for a lot less. Supposed to take 7 - 10 days to build and is a very nice looking building.

Morton was also a consideration but their nearest office is 2.5 hours away, which to me means they would be hiring out local subs to do my building or else the price would not be competitive due to all of the travel time.

Appears you are doing quite well if you need that size building to protect all your tractors, attachments, ATVs from the elements.

Interesting comment. I have similar size and it barely holds my hand tools and hand operated walk behind equipment for my building trade. Not all that large a building by any means and I am by no means well off.
Perhaps by being careful with his money and making sure he gets the best building for the money by asking advice on this forum is why he is in the position he is in.
Congrats to the OP

It sure doesn't take long to fill them up either, I moved into the place I'm in now, by the time I got all my stuff collected in one building, I was amazed how small the building got.

I also find that the more room you have the more people want to store there stuff in there. I have owned my house for 3 years and have never even used a 16x32 building I have lol, my dad filled that one with all his sh*t, was only gonna be for the summer he said, I told him in the beginning it's not a open invitation for him to store his stuff, 3 years later, here we are lol.

These are really nice pole barns and plans in the discussion. Many of the farmers around here construct a tractor shed that is just that, a tractor shed to house their tractors and implements. Most utilize another shop to work on their tractors and implements. The shed has no power but some add it later as an added benefit. The main thing is their tractors and implements like balers, combines, etc...are in the dry. Those sheds can be built fairly inexpensively if you can find used utility poles from the local power company. We have several of those on the farm. Not the prettiest looking but functional.

When I built my 30 x 48 x 10' wall building several years ago I had approx. $13k in materials. I did all the sight work and construction myself. I have gravel floor right now but hope to surface later on.

I live near Amish and I hired some of them to do my barn. It ended up being about the same price as I would have been able to just purchase the materials. Turns out someone in their community has a whole metal bending plant in their barn so they built the siding from rolled steel.

I do not see where anyone mentioned the snow load costs of building in the north as opposed to the south. That makes a lot of difference in the price. I too have Amish and Mennenite living close by. They make metal siding in any color. One company even makes trusses by hand pressing the plates into the wood. They have barns with the patterns molded into the concrete and various hooks placed in the floor. They lever the plates into place. I have not heard of any failures.

Whenever I see buggy tracks on a road not regulary used by them, I start looking for a new barn going up.

My wife and I have sold our farm and will be moving to a much smaller acreage. We will be deciding on pre-built run in sheds, built in place run in sheds or a barn for the seven horses we still have, three of which are up in age.
