I Need Help with a JD hand/parking brake

I am in the process of changing the hand brake band (old one was completely shot) on a Deere 2750, and cannot get the new band around the pulley in the differential. Obviously, I have the rockshaft housing out (it was time for a rebuild), but have tried about 50 times to fish the new band around the pulley with no luck. In addition to the linkage, I have removed the bottom adjusting screw. Does the final drive have to be removed to install a new band?

Hi Txjim! You have given me info. already and I very much appreciate it. You guys are correct in how to adjust it but I'm having a hard time finding the top plug that you have to go down thru. The cab on mine makes it hard to find/ see. I'm pretty sure at this point that there is a small hydraulic line from the loader attached here, so I will try to take it off and somehow look down in there. I know I sometimes don't explain things well, the old brain just doesn't process like it used to. Thanks again.

I agree JD engineers could have mounted the cab(SGB) 6'' higher from tractor then repairing them would be a lot easier. Hole that one utilizes to adjust hand brake is outlined in blue. Does your loader hyd control valve return hose attach to hyd filter cover?????

I removed the plug that has a hyd. line and indeed, the adjuster is under there! Had to jack the cab up ever so gently but it worked and so does the brake. I can only imagine what the dealer would have charged for this adjustment!
No, I don't believe that line goes into the hydraulic filter. My next fix will be trying to get at the screen for the hydraulics. I think it may be hidden behind the loader control block.
I also asked for help on the Yes. tractors site (you were there too) and got good help from you and Tech 7. If you guys make it up to Ma., I'll buy you a beer...2 or even 3! Again, thank you.

You're welcome but for me your beer money is safe. On the other hand I think Tech 7 lives much closer to you as he's in Canada. I've been disabled for over 20 yrs and traveling is definitely out of the question. Can you please post a photo of how the loader hyd's are attached to your tractor? Correct hyd FEL valve connection insures optimum FEL & hyd operation. Hyd sump screen can be accessed by removing a plug on RH side.

I will try but I'm not to handy with computer stuff. My setup does not look like a factory install.

this is the correct method for attaching FEL control valve to JD closed-center hyd system similar to your utility tractor.
