As discussed on other threads....value of a tractor is more than the "purchase."

I needed a new u joint for the 2035. Called the dealer and had them order the PN. Walked into the dealership and the parts guy is busy and goes into the back, pops out and says "I got it right here for ya." I didn't identify myself or even make to to the counter before he sprang into action. I looked at the part and notice it didn't come with snap rings...mi culpa..I gave then the PN and assumed they were included. I asked if the could get me four snap rings...sure. He hands me the bag with the u joint and says "see ya, we'll square up later." 30 hours later I get a call that the snap rings are in.

To me this after purchase support is awesome. Doing business the ol' fashion way of recognizing someone, smiling, and trusting them. Could someone take advantage? yeah! I sure won't with service and support that is quick and attentive to the customers needs.

Just wanted to re-iterate the taking into acocunt the whole experience when buying a tractor.

Great story, this is support done right. If you have the desire to take it one step farther and makes a parts sales person friend for life, give his boss a call and tell him about your experience. Parts people don't get enough recognition for their work and it is a substantially harder job than what their customers think...imao

This has been my experience with my own dealership and I'm a 2 hour one-way trip from them. I'll visit maybe once or twice a year for something or other, I'm barely in the door and they're already greeting me by name. If I've had a problem/question there's always been a mechanic available to simply discuss it. The salesman, who sold me my 4105 four years ago, is usually ready with a cup of coffee and time for a yarn.

They didn't just sell me my tractors, they continue to be there for me.

The other point that I didn't emphasize at first is overall how quick JD and easy JD parts are to obtain. Sure I can complain that the u joint failed and isn't easily serviceable and the parts aren't cheap; however the JD network has the parts available and they are good quality. I'd much rather have the JD scenario than waiting weeks and getting mediocre quality parts.

I'll also add that I may have a different opinion if my JD tractor was more than mechanically controlled.

Thanks for sharing, not enough positive stories these days. I've dealt with my dealer since the 80's, he can still tell me the mowers & equipment I've bought from him, plus calls me by name.

A good dealer is more important than the color on the tractor IMO. The best value might not always be the cheapest.

It's sad how often you see people post on here who have come to that realization but will never admit it. :confused3:
