TV Antenna instead of cable/dish

The ViewTV Outdoor Amplified Antenna is a good one with 150 miles range. The antenna is full Weather resistant and comes with a wireless remote control. I have found a detailed guide about TV Antennas and some useful information.

Our digital UHF antenna is an eight bay with an amplifier, mounted on a rotator. It works well at night and during the day when the weather is cloudy, clear blue sky during daylight hours forget it. We are about sixty miles from the transmitters. When the army and air force get busy at JBLM just north of us we will cause short signal drop outs as aircraft block line of sight. I think if you are within 40 miles of the transmitters you will have no problems, 60 seems to be the practical limit around here.b
We did find that when the local network stations switched to digital that they added 3-4 subchannels as well, so now instead of just channel 5, there is now 5-1, 5-2, 5-3. But it's kind of like most cable offerings, one good channel to four or five you never watch:confused3:

Aircraft are not blocking the TV signal. The ground based and airborne aircraft radar is overloading the TV's tuner with "signal noise".

I would like to see a side by side comparison between that ViewTV antenna and that Channel Master Yagi and adjustable amp.

I have tried to find a comparison sheet on the web but got no success. If you have any doubt on your mind then you can read individual product reviews by the real customers on sites like amazon and Walmart.

Amazon and Wally World reports are not repeatable results conducted with calibrated instruments under identical circumstances. Certainly the ViewTV antenna can have a super high gain amp but without a large set of tuned antenna elements to mechanical gather and mechanically gain signal while at the same time filtering out off frequency interference. The ViewTV will tend to amplify noise as well as signal when used in less than ideal environments.
While on the higher $$$ side, The Channel Master 7-51 high gain antenna and the variable amp with the FM trap will be hard to beat when used with a rotor and RG-6 cable.

Now here's an interesting question...my parents bought a house back in the early 60's. It had a sectional TV tower comprised of metal rods at the four corners with a metal wire (maybe like 6 or 4 gauge????) welded in a diagonal pattern along the entire length of each section to fix the 4 rods into a square of about 4-5 inches that stacked together...it was ground based but attached to the fascia board when the stack got that high. Anybody know of any outfit that sells those tower sections anymore?

Do you mean like a Rohn 25?
