Finally got a chance to work on it tonight. Guess I was lucky the clutch and the pulley both slid right off on their own. I did soak them for 2 days. Motor is out, hopefully will get a few more hours this week to get inside and replace the camshaft.

Had some more time last night to work on the motor. Watched a youtube video on how to replace briggs and stratton camshaft (guy with fake teeth). Video was helpful. I didn't have any real problems taking apart other than I could not get the camshaft out until I removed the pushrods. As you can see in the pictures the one lobe is worn pretty bad. Wonder why only one started to wear? Hopefully this will fix everything for a while. Motor is reassembled and just needs to be bolted back onto the mower. Hopefully will have time this evening. :thumbsup:

Well, the one lobe was hardened on Friday afternoon and it was almost beerthirty.... It happens on the singles and twins alike. Not a lot as there used to be I think. Kudos on a job well done.

camshafts are a continual problem in intek and Platinum series.

number one on the list.......change the oil regular and frequent.....Mow up and down hills........not side hill

use a high grade 30 weight sae oil use nothing else.......any multi weights will fry your engine sure as the day is long.
