Mahindra 3550 vs LS XR4150

That TC40 is my brother's tractor. If you jump up to the 1533 or 1538 do they weigh more than the 1526 and the same for the xg3025 to a 3135 or 3140? I tried to look at the specs for the xg3025 but it doesn't have the xg3025 on the sheet. I guess I am like so many others - always think about the what ifs and maybe get something too large.

The 1533 and 1538 are about 700-800 pounds heavier than the 1526. The XG3025 weighs about the same as the 1526. The XG3135/40 tractors weigh about 400-500 more than the 1526 and XG3025.

I guess it comes down to more of what I need that what I want. Heck, I want all the tractor I can buy so long as it isn't too large for the stuff I plan on doing with it. I was looking at the 3540 and according to this - http://mahindrausa.com/sites/default/files/tractor/pdf/23858 MAH543500 3500 Ser Bro 012417_0.pdf - the 3540 is about 260 lbs lighter.

The one thing about the xr40 series is they have a year less on warranty. Dealer told me that the XR 40 series still have a shibaura engine while the 41 series have a 6 year warranty and have an engine that LS built. Who knows if one is better than the other.

In the Mahindra lines I'd suggest the 1500 series or the smaller tractors in the 2500 series (2538 for HST and 2540/2545 for gear). The 3500 series is a weight class up (as are the XR series LS tractors).

It's kind of interesting though why Mahindra would have the 2500 series with more HP and less weight than the 3500 series. Seems like with the 3500 series being more premium that you would have the most HP and weight. Don't you need the weight to take advantage of the HP?

Don't look too deep into why one model is different than another (1500 vs 2500 vs 3500). They're just different models of tractors built by different manufacturers to fill different price points. The 3500 series series are built by Mahindra with Mahindra engines. The 2500 series are TYM made tractors with Mahindra engines. The 1500 series are Mitsubishi made tractors with Mahindra engines.

Not necessarily. Now you're getting into what the tractor is going to be used for. The heavier 3550 has plenty of HP. The only time you're likely to have issues with HP is with attachments that require certain PTO HP. For ground engagement implements you're not as reliant on HP as you are weight. I have yet to run out of HP with my 3550. I have run out of traction a few times (all 4 wheels spin). Remember we're talking about compact tractors here. There are certainly ground engaging implements that need a lot of HP to use but you're going to need a bigger class of tractor.

With my 3550 setup, when I have the backhoe on (tires are filled as well), my tractor weighs in at around 9000 lbs. It's too heavy to be an "around the house" tractor. I don't drive it around the house unless it's been 4 or 5 days since the last rain because it will leave tire marks in the grass. They "go down" after the next rain but it's very easy to tear up the yard with it. I have it at the house right now doing some long over due chores but it will eventually be taken to our farm and left there.

My mistake,:ashamed: I was looking a cab vs open station on the 3500 series. The LS is a little narrower and and shorter in height, but is longer and about 600lbs lighter. So yes they are actually in the same relative weight class.

My bad all around, I should stay out of these types of posts when I'm in a hurry. :(

A local dealer quoted me $27,505 for a 3550 shuttle. Not sure what I can get a 1526 for. I was also quoted $26,500.00 for an LS XR4155 shuttle.

Were those prices 'out the door'? A 1526 Shuttle (with FEL) should be somewhere around $17,000 plus tax and such, depending on your area and the dealer. A 1526 HST will be about $1K more.

Didn't include tax but everything else - loaded tires, etc. LS even said delivery and full tank of fuel.
