Canine for sure. Probably coyote because it just looks a little more narrow then a dog, but it's pretty hard to be 100% sure either way.

Nothing in the pic for scale, but canine and most likely just a roaming mid to large breed. My Redbone Coonhound and German Shepherd dog leave the same prints in soft sand/soil because they have thick nails.

Coyotes prints are usually much more narrow and long, in my experience. I have 2 that run around my place, and their prints are easily discernible from my 3 labs. The width of those prints leads me to believe it is a dog as well.

BTW, that link to coyote prints is BS. I would be surprised if even 5% of those prints are actually coyote and NONE of the 'artsy prints' are accurate.

I think you need to do more than look. How about sniffing and licking it. Tell us what you find and we might be able to ID it better.

I went on a nature hike with the family over the winter. The guide was hillarious when he found rabbit prints. He hopped around showing the difference between rabbit and squirrel prints. Then he found scat! He took his gloves off, looked at it and said was a rabbit 3-9 months old, he rolled it around in his fingers and said 4-7months old, cut it with a knife and said 4-5 months old, then he ate it! Made some faces and said 4 months 3 days old!

I would be like, BS! I'll set up a blind taste test of animal sh*t and if you get them all right I will take your word, or better yet, eat my scat and guess my age lol
