Loss of power, fuel starvation, I think

After experiencing some moisture in my fuel I am now (after running across some boaters talking about how they deal with this) cycling fuel through the storage tank/tank filters before dispensing into any of my vehicles/tractors. I have a water filter and a particulate filter, but if something is post these filters (condensation or bugs in the hose) you will be pushing it straight into your vehicle's tank.

For the first time ever, with my nearly brand new NX, I was subjected to what happens when you have freezing weather and moisture in the tractor's fuel tank! I was getting ice formation blocking the flow from the tank: blowing back through the line from the tractor's fuel filter and feeling the change in pressure (as the ice pellet got dislodged) confirmed this.

This is a big deal for big cruising boats. Some of these hold thousands of gallons of Diesel and you don't just throw out that kind of investment for condensate or Diesel "bugs".. So there are services that "polish" the fuel already in the tanks by pumping it through a dockside filter bank.

Scott, yes. For me it was a forum for smaller boats that's I'd run across this discussion, but the procedure was essentially the same- "polishing." As was stated, this is what filters are for!

When I'd looked at my system as to how it would be forming condensation I stopped and thought that the hose itself would be doing it and that any moisture that it would collect wouldn't be dealt with by the filters. So, simple enough, just pump the hose back into the tank before pushing any fuel into the vehicle. Only my NX has CR, which is a lot more sensitive to moisture in the fuel: no moisture sensors in anything other than my old IDI Ford (which sits for months on end- never has triggered the sensor).
