I need advice getting rid of mice

have one spot in house were mice come in, end up putting glue traps across a couple feet in a strip, and then right directly around the glue traps put regular mice traps, they hit the glue traps that end up some what sticky, and slow down just enough they wiggle and cause a trap to go off.

5 gallon bucket traps are working here on the farm. tend to be in corners / dark areas / up against other things. so as mice dart around edges of stuff they will more likely go up a 5 gallon bucket ramp and into the bucket. never had any luck just tossing bucket out in middle and nothing else around it.

i do not remember the "name" rodenator... gas + flame + holes = mega boom flamage.

look to see about dealing with both food source and nesting grounds of the mice. until then you just kinda spinning your wheels not going anywhere quickly.

Since you're a 'dog person', I'll suggest your getting a Rat Terrier dog. They can be easily trained to not bother the chickens, and they can/will slay a horde of mice and rats. More than any cat can kill; no reflection on cats... we also have a Main Coon cat.

Just for background info on Rat Terriers, they were bred in England just for the purpose of killing rats. England was infested with rats at that time. In rat killing contests there, Rat Terriers were recorded as kill as many as 2500 rats in one hour.

We have two Toy Rat Terriers, and I assure you, we do not have a rat problem. But I have seen our miniature RTs in action. No training - just a natural instinct. Dang they're quick and fast! And they'd be good playmates for your Okita.

Never seen a rat here, just a lot of mice. Do they kill mice?

Get some more snakes - it will help a bit.

That has also become a problem. We're breaking records with the number of snakes we've dealt with so far this year. The rat snakes are not so bad, but the copperheads and cotton mouths are showing up at the house too!!!!

On the feed side, what we have done that's made a huge difference is to go to a "trigger" style chicken feeder. In our case it's a 30 gallon barrel with a three-quarter inch hole drilled in the bottom and the trigger mounted in the hole. The chickens peck at the trigger the food falls down and they eat it but you don't have much if any extra wasted on the ground.

Friends of ours have a rat terrier, he doesn't care if it's a rat mouse or squirrel, if it's a rodent he is all over it!

ROFL! You can't make this stuff up.

Note to self: YOU DO NOT WANT CHICKENS!

I had a mouse chewing one of the fuel return lines on my backhoe. The second time he chewed the same hose into I put some bait on the engine near the hose.

Squirrels or rats got in one of my cars that wasn't being used and chewed up a ground wire and vacuum line. I found trash and acorns all over the intake as if it was nesting there.

I might order a tin cat and place it outside just to see if I catch any. I have a real cat but it sleeps inside as much as out. She brings home a little mole every now and then but no mice.
