So I finally took the time to take a stab at revitalizing my old and rusted grader blade. After grinding the rust off, I applied a few coats of primer followed by spraying on two top coats. For my first implement refinish project, I'm fairly satisfied with the results. As I primarily use the blade for snow removal, I may add a wax coat to the blade on both sides. Thought process being that the wet snow will be less likely to stick as it did to the rusted finish the blade sported prior to this project. We'll see.

Here are a couple before and after pics:

Looks good - I have to force myself to paint. And it never comes out that good. You did a nice job there.

Thanks, I'm the same way with painting. Got a cheap spray gun from Harbor Freight, and it worked like a charm.

I hear you! I actually had the orange paint bought and ready to use. Took it back because I figured the black would be better when it gets all nasty and dirty with manure. Being that I mainly use it in the winter time, I'm not too concerned about the burn factor. In fact, it might be a plus to warm my hands in the winter!

Update: After waxing the blade as I noted earlier, I probably would not do that again. Probably more trouble than its worth, winter will tell. Being that the surface is not totally smooth like a tractor or car, the wax tends to get into the little depressions and remain. No big deal I suppose....it is just a tractor implement after all!! :D
