Nice truck. I don't like the way flatbeds look but I always have one because they are so versatile. I tried to make the factory bed work for me on my 2017 F-450 but after about three months I gave in and bought a flatbed like I have had on my last four trucks.

How's it work with the extras on the ford? Don't you have LED tail lights and BLIS. Hate to loose a bunch of features

I like the photo's completelawn care posted of his Dodge. Those top of the bed boxes are probably the way I'll go and add channel at the end of them to accept a 2 x 12 (or taller). I'll probably put a Montezuma tool box on one side and a Westin above bed box on the other. I need to find somewhere to put my spare, right now it's bolted to the headache rack.

My truck has 2 30 gallon tanks, so I don't think putting the spare under the bed is an option.

Some of the things I really like about my truck are:
1. Not having to climb in the bed to access the tool boxes.
2. My nurse tank for fuel is permanently mounted. (before, I had it on a pallet and had to move it around and strap it down)

I still have to climb in the bed when hooking up my gooseneck trailer, which is harder to do with the flatbed than it was with a regular bed. I wish CM beds came with some sort of step the help climb in the bed.

My Dodge came with a 52 gallon fuel tank which is mounted behind the rear axle. This allowed space to mount my spare below the bed just behind the cab. The spare is mounted in a space where I could have put another underbody tool box, but I preferred having the spare there, instead of somewhere on top of the bed.

I had thought about swapping my dump body for a aluminum flatbed dump. My current one is just steel and the unfit company is not known for quality paint ot fit /finish. I suspect within 3 years it will be a rusty mess and at that point I will likely swap it out.

I wish I had a flat bed as well.

Truck beds these days just arent built for people to really use them like most of us probably do. Tie down points are limited or weak, beds dent easy if you drop something in there, fender flares get in the way, etc etc.

That is a great way to mount the spare.
