Hello mopardude328, if you go for a shuttle gearbox then I recommend you figure out your most commonly used speed range and then check if there is a gear (stick) shift in that range. Constantly changing gears gets old fast.eg JD quad shift. the 140hp tractor has the 20 speed quad shift. For me this means I can mostly use the quad shift within the B or C range, but the 120 hp tractors have the 24 speed quad shift and I find on many jobs that I am shifting between B and C range frequently.

I agree, it is one thing shifting and using the clutch. I'm a gearhead, don't mind, but having to range shift in the middle of common tasks is way too aggravating.

I also have interest in the M5660SUHD, seems like a lot more tractor than the mx series, or grand L for the money.

Here's an older unit, from... Messicks?

today I went and "test drove" the first tractor...a New Holland Workmaster 50, around the dealer lot. 8x8 synchro shuttle....about 5000 lb weight...Not sure how I feel about it, maybe just..."Meh" if you will. LOL. Didnt exactly get me excited. Not sure how I feel about constantly feathering the clutch for loader work...

The last couple weeks, I have been thinking about the Mahindra MPower 85 as well, 83 HP, a hefty 7000 lb weight, 4100 lb loader lift, 5500 lb 3ph...Big guy. LOL But it also has a synchro shuttle 12x12.

It used to be that most machinery required feathering the clutch for loader work. Then along came HST, a transmission specifically made for loader work. I got one; it's the answer.

Went and saw the Mahindra MPower! What a brute, but it's too big. LOL. If I go with a gear tractor, a hydraulic shuttle is a must.

I personally would opt for a full blown M series but that is personal preference.

I agree though I think you might want something bigger for your property. Sometimes it is nice to have a big tractor and a smaller tractor around. There are some jobs that just aren't well suited for a big tractor.

Good luck to the OP in his search and final decision.

OKAY so, for those who say I should go bigger... There's a 'full blown' M7060 with LA1154 loader my dealer just got in...optioned the way I want it with 12x12 power shuttle, 3 remotes, top & tilt, 3rd function, KSR shockless ride, canopy, and a set of 42" forks for the same dang price as the others mentioned....Seems like a whole lot more tractor for the same amount of money....only makes sense to go with the M....lol...Went to go see it, I like it. lol

probably my final decision if I were to go Orange. :)

Hate where they put the hydraulic lines and pump on the l4701 , looks like an afterthought and it looks like one of the first things to rip off. Go bigger to get away from that.

So you can get an M7060 optioned how you want for the same cost as an MX5200? WOW, either the M is very low or the MX is VERY high. Whatever, the M is way more machine.
