Kubota BX23S
Hi all. I asked this question on another forum, but wanted to ask it here also.

I have Kubota BX23S, and I wanted to test the hydraulic pressure. Unfortunately, with the new flat face connectors, the BXpanded kit will not work. They are hoping to have a compatible one soon, but I don't know what "soon" means. I even called Messicks to see if they had a part number for the female quick connector, and unfortunately the guy I talked to said it only showed the parts for the entire manifold, not just one female connector. The reason I think I need the female connector is that the male ends are on the tractor, and the females on their new quick attach manifold. To try and make a long story short, I was trying to piece one together, but I am not finding it isn't very easy to do.

I took a picture of one of the connectors for the backhoe, as you can't undo the FEL connector unless you removed the FEL, and I really didn't want to do that for a picture. It looks to be a 5/8" connector. My assumption is they are all that size. Based on that assumption, here is what I am building:
Connector from Summit Hydraulics: Amazon.com: 5/8" SAE -1 Skid Steer Bobcat Flat Face Hydraulic Quick Connect Female Coupler: Home Improvement
Pressure gauge: Winters PFQ Series Stainless Steel 34 Dual Scale Liquid Filled Pressure Gauge with Brass Internals, -3 psi/kpa, 2-1/2" Dial Display, +/-1.5% Accuracy, 1/4" NPT Bottom Mount: Industrial Pressure Gauges: Amazon.com: Industrial & Scientific
Hose: Amazon.com: Apache 9839964 1/4" x 18" 2-Wire Hydraulic Hose Male x Male Assembly: Industrial & Scientific
Hose adapter: Anderson Metals Brass Pipe Fitting, Coupling, 1/4" x 1/4" Female Pipe: Industrial Pipe Fittings: Amazon.com: Industrial & Scientific

Then I need an adapter from the connectors 7/8 inch female threads to get to the hose: EATON AEROQUIP Male ORB to Female NPT Straight Hydraulic Hose Adapter - 4VRY8'|'2216-8-1S - Grainger
Then a connector from that connector, to the hose: https://www.grainger.com/product/EATON-AEROQUIP-Male-NPT-to-Female-NPT-Reducer-2F437

Before I start getting all of that, has anyone built a pressure tester for the new 80 series? Can you tell me what you did, and how you did it? This turned into a larger project than I thought it would be! :)

Well i`m in the same boat as you are... i bought a BX23S too with the flat faced couplers... if you find anything, let me know, i will do the same for you. As of right now, i bought a flat faced coupler on-line... its 1/2in thread, now working on fittings to make a gauge work. I also found a 4,000psi liquid filled hydraulic gauge on-line too. I got everything off from ebay.

OK, it definitely is a 5/8" connector. Here are some pictures after I removed the FEL to get some. Going to do some more web surfing to see if I can find an easy way to build one. In simple terms, I just need a connector, a hose and a pressure gauge. The hose and gauge seem simple to find. It's finding a connector I can attach to a hose that seems to be the hard thing to find.

Dell, i just got an idea from a friend of mine.... he says its easier to plumb in a T fitting and install a coupler on the T and leave it on the tractor. He suggested plumbing the T at the joy stick valve. I`m looking into it right now to see if its doable or not. I suppose we could plumb in a pigtail hose with a coupler and tie the hose off somewhere on the tractor for later testing usage. This new flat face system is nice, but its so new, like you, i`m having issues finding the right stuff to build a quick test gauge...lol. The way i tested mine already was unhooking a hose, screw on a gauge because i wanted to see what kind of pressure i had to work with.

Here are the KABOTA part numbers if you need shims to raise your pump pressure:
31351-37950 (0.4mm shim)
31351-37960 (0.2mm shim)
31351-37970 (0.1mm shim)

If you buy these shims from your dealer, MAKE SURE they look up the part numbers to verify they will be the right ones for your BX23S tractor.

I agree. I do like the new connectors. Easy to use and no fluid loss. I am curious about what pressure reading you came up when you tested yours?

Oh, and I already thought about just unhooking a hose on the FEL and testing there too! However, knowing my luck, something would break while putting it back together. :)

This may be of use to someone planning to add an inline gauge:

Edit: Unable to post a direct link to the specific page but if you use the link below and then select "CONNECTORS" then "STEEL ADAPTERS" then "GAUGE PORT ADAPTERS" should get you there.

Tractor Dell, not sure if this will help or not, but here is a link from the website that npalen posted earlier
