Seems that no matter what carrier you use they all subcontract and therefore Fedex might hand off to UPS then the post office gets your package.
At that they also subcontract to some small parcel local guy as well.
On the other hand from China occasionally outshines local and much cheaper.

Once had a UPS parcel that spent a week 'in transit' as he did not want to deadhead drive my last 12 miles.
He was fired!

Fast, Cheap, Good. Pick any two. Applies to a LOT of situations. Seems like you settled for Good & Cheap, assuming the Crocs are of good quality.

I had an issue with FEDEX. They "attempted" to deliver a tractor part 3 days in a row. Listed reason for non-delivery as "addressee exception". I tracked on line and my package returned to distribution center each night. Third night I called FEDEX regional office to see what was going on. Supervisor informed me that driver told her I was not available for delivery. I was home and available all three days. Package did not have to be signed for...! Turns out driver did not like the last 9 miles of gravel road. He has since been reassigned.

Had another FEDEX driver took to leaving packages at local business in town (20 miles). I would get a call that I had a package dropped of at so and so gas station and to come get it. Put up with that exactly two times... FEDEX driver told the station attendant I had requested to leave the package there! Another call to the supervisor... Driver was fired.

If they don't want to deliver the package, they should not accept it!

FedEx drivers are mostly franchisees or employees of franchisees. UPS drivers work for UPS. Big difference.

At least your house is still intact. Fed-Jerks backed into my house and crushed the gutter, soffit, fascia and shingles. Luckily the trusses are OK. Still dealing with about the 4th person so far. Wide open driveway, but they have to back right up to the house so they don't have to walk an extra 10 steps. Another Fed-Jerk delivered a next day air package to my neighbor instead of here. Their driveway is right across from our house, so their GPS probably said they were at the right stop even though the neighbors address is odd numbered and ours is even numbered.

I had a package come from Germany last week.
It was delivered to my door by the USPS. The postman extended himself to "sign for me" while leaving the package under roof on my front porch.
Tuesday, the postman made a special trip up our hill to confirm that I had the package, as it "seemed I might have been away". What care!

And the trip from Germany took less than two weeks. The item was all steel and cast iron, No Crocs were injured in the process! ;-)

Not exactly true. FedEx Express is company personnel. FedEx Ground and Home Delivery are Independent Contractors

We have been having issues with critical first out AM deliveries...

This started about 18 months ago and it is really hit or miss... not that the package never arrives.

Last week critical medication didn't arrive and 6 surgeries cancelled.

The reason is one we all understood but were told the shipment was in route repeatedly until we learned at noon it would not be delivered that day at all...

Shipment came from 60 miles away and the shooting in San Francisco were an employee when postal and killed 3 UPS employees is why.

No matter the guarantee or promise it's not a 100%.

I ordered 4 live traps last week from Amazon. All came from the same distributor in Knoxville, TN, about 90 miles from me. Ordered Sunday night, (standard free shipping 5-8 days), Amazon says "Will be delivered Tuesday" (Hey....who needs Prime ?). Well, didn't happen....whatever, wasn't in a big hurry anyway.......

Order got split into 3 + 1. Three came Wednesday via UPS. One came Thursday via FEDEX.

How do they make any money doing that ?

I ordered a dyson vacuum last Saturday. With the purchase I got four free tools. Today I received a shipping notice - guess what did not ship - the vacuum. What did ship - the four tools - all in separate packages. Things that make you go hmmmmmmmm.......................
